To: alarm rider
I was an MTI, and even though the picture shows matress covers, I would not have let a flight go until those matress covers were tight.

Upon a closer look I believe you are corect.
It almost looks as if it they are unassigned bunks or a barracks for transients.

Of course, we all know that the correct nomenclature for mattress cover is F**T Sack.

I believe that picture is a picture of what we called an “open bay” barracks.

Generally speaking, each new flight would walk in to just such a barracks and then marched over to get sheets, pillows & blankets.

We always made sure that before each graduating flight left basic training, the barracks was clean and squared away. No flight of mine would have ever left even mattress covers in such a state.
