Norway: Russia to cut all military ties with NATO

Norway's Defense Ministry says Russia has informed it that it plans to cut all military ties with NATO.

Ministry spokeswoman Heidi Langvik-Hansen says the country's embassy received a telephone call from Russia's Defense Ministry on Wednesday, saying Moscow plans "to freeze all military cooperation with NATO and allied countries."

Anyone out there know what to make of what the hell the Russians are doing? They seem to be in some type of self destruct mode. Don't they realize that their future is with the West? What alternatives do they have? Don't they see China to the east and the Muslim countries to the south as more of a threat. They cannot be so stupid as to think the western countries are a threat. Is Putin simply trying to consolidate his power. What's up?

Well, that’s not good.

What's is not good, is the waffling from NATO. They were supposed to kick Russia out during their last meeting and did not do it.

Russia then sees the opening to own the day and withdraw. Russia gets the points, the win and moves on to the final.

NATO is still spinning it's wheels. It has not made the moves to win the race, and may not make it to the final which would be a Russian win by default.

Yes it does, the geopolitical scene is moving very quickly. I would expect some announced punitive alliances from Russia in the near future as well.

The severity of their reaction tells me they are NOT happy about not acheiving initial goals (replacing the government) in Georgia.

I expect a flash point in the near future will be Crimea.

The Russians know meaningless action when the see it, and more so, they intend that everyone watching fully appreciates just how meaningless it is. They have done this in classic style by casting away what we threaten to withhold.

Besides, who shives a ghit, they like to hear themselves talk. Trying to bring back the “glory days” of the old USSR. Ahh yes, the good old days, failed 5 year plans, stores empty of goods the people wanted, unless of course you looked in a hard currency store but that’s right, Russian citizens weren’t allowed to buy anyhting there because the Russians didn’t want to take their own money in trade.

Maybe the question ought to be- will they strengthen their alliance with Iran?

They are not going to westernize. They gave that up a few years ago when Putin began to take control of the economy and media.

They have not suddenly become crazy, they are and have always been crazy.

Had we taken them out after Germany during WWII, all this would have been avoided, but a some point, in perhaps the near future, we will need to take care of long delayed business.

Diplomacy is only a means to exploit for them, and it's about time that we, and the rest of the West accept it, and deal with it.

N. Korea and Iran all already agitating in support, and very soon you will see the players emerge on the field.
