The International Olympic Committee has ordered an investigation into the age of Chinese gymnast He Kexin, The Times of London reports. Faced with almost insurmountable evidence which suggests that He is two years younger than the birth date listed on her Chinese passport, the IOC has launched an inquiry that could result in the stripping of He's gold medals.

This news comes on the heels of another Times report that details the findings of a New York computer security expert who found official Chinese documents that list He's age as 14 years and 220 days. Mike Walker used a Chinese search engine's cache feature to find He's actual date of birth on spreadsheets from a Chinese government website. The spreadsheets were taken down off the site recently and He's name had been removed.

Could the IOC have more gravitas than the UN Security Council, who’s reaction to everything is “Stop, or we’ll tell you to stop again!” ?

I would be sorry to see her lose her medals if she actually earned them with her performance and not just heavy Chinese judge scoring. China needs to be slapped for the deception, not the agile lass. I don’t know how to do that but perhaps she could be held up as a talented winner while her medals are put in some sort of escrow or something and China loses the right to claim them for national ranking.

Thankfully, there's no 'if' in THAT part of the 'if', so you can rest easy...

Too little, too late, our American girls may get the Gold, but not on the world stage, but back home months later!

You'd have to be blind not to see she wasn't 16!

Dog and Pony show. IOC and FIG knew for many months the chinese gymnists were underage, and allowed the farce to continue through the whole competition. No medals will be surrendered. No ban from international competition.
The damage has already been done since the medal award ceremonies have already happened.
The chinese will tell everyone to go pound sand. And why would they not? The IOC is as corrupt and toothless as the UN.

Yes, tough for her, especially as you just know she had no say at all about whether or not she’d be on the team.
