Why Isn't New Mommy Sarah Palin Qualified To Be Vice President?

You want family values? She has it.

You want patriotism? She has it. Track Palin enlisted in the Army. He wants to head to Iraq.

You want a ‘maverick’? She has it. She took out Alaska’s corrupt power structure.

She doesn’t like special interests. She is something of an idealist. She has enough executive experience to appear young and fresh to counter anything the Obama campaign might throw at John McCain. She is a champion of ethics reform. Have I mentioned that she is young (46) and pretty?

I don’t see why that’s any big deal. Those are the things McCain already has plenty of experience with. In four years, he’ll be ready to retire and she’d have the experience. Then we’d get a president with strong conservative principles. That’s the benefit to putting a younger, up-and-coming conservative on the ticket.

But like Jindal, I don’t think Palin wants it. I don’t know if she is wary about tying her future to McCain or if she just thinks her family obligations are more important right now. She just had a baby with Downs Syndrome and maybe she thinks she has enough on her plate right now. I think we will be hearing more from her in the future though!

McCain is 72 and has health issues. Any running mate is going to be looked at with a view of how qualified he or she is to step in and replace McCain if the worst happens. Palin is not someone with the background and experience to be president. Not currently.

Her husband watches the kids, so family shouldn’t be an issue. She may take it if offered. I guess we’ll know in four more days. If not, and Mitt gets it, perhaps she can run with him as VP in 2012. McCain needs to make a splash to chop off any convention bounce BHO gets - real or fabricated.

I happen to think that Sarah Palin would energize young pro life Catholics and Evangelicals like nobody has ever done before. I really think she will bring new voters to the polls in droves. Her pro life story is simply a magnet to the folks I'm talking about.

Think of the contrast between her and Obama.

Her reform minded viwes and common sense energy views as dispalyed in her letter to Congress are more positives.

Can she debate Biden and win?

Well fortunately the debates aren’t really debates anyway, so as long as she is prepped, she’ll do fine. I’ve seen her on YouTube and she is very composed - doesn’t stammer (Obama), doesn’t ramble on (Biden) and doesn’t say “My Friends” every time they answer a question.

A rising star indeed. And for that very reason she should decline the position if offered. Why should she forever tie herself to John McCain? That could be a career ender.
She would be better off waiting a short while getting more time in getting more experience and more attention.

Palin is a lifelong member of the NRA and runs marathons.

ProLife
She is tough.

Not a Ferraro at all. Ferraro was not a reaction to a perceived political backstabbing that Clinton received.

IF McCain picks a woman, the dems will have to treat her with the kind of affirmative action kid gloves they always scream about.

The women that were assured this was the year they would see a woman in the White House will be able to vote for one and exact revenge for the political rape that obambi -nation hit Clinton with.

Romney imo, is no conservative anyway if it took him 40 years to figure out killing babies was wrong.

Family is an issue with a down syndrome child. I have a special needs child with a lot less problems then her child potentially has.

The child will defintely be needing speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. How is she going to do that and take a newborn on the road to campaign?????

Down syndrome children have a 50% chance of having heart problems in addition to problems with hearing and eyesight.

My husband could not travel when my brain injured daughter was a baby. He had to come home straight from work to help at home. He got up in the middle of the night, he took my son to school. There was tons of work to do for 2 parents. My husband missed lots of work the first few years with doctors appointments and such.

My daughter is much easier now because she has been remediated, so my husband doesn’t do as much now. At this point, the Palins do not know what the future is for their baby. That just takes time, and the baby is too young to know how he is going to develop.

She has a newborn, a down’s child, and 4 other kids. I would love to see her as VP and think she could do it. It would be a breath of fresh air.

OTOH.... that woman who was head of VP.... I could never pull that lever.

Pick Romney or Pawlenty and be done with it

Pawlenty? Why make the same old RNC mistakes? This is the same thinking that gave us Bob Dole as a candidate. Pawlenty is as dull as they come. He makes Biden seem intruiging. All the people to choose from and people want to talk about Pawlenty?

Being VP has to be a quieter job than being governor of any state, including Alaska. If you can't fit your family responsibilities around the vice presidency, you aren't really trying.

If you want a win in November - Palin is your woman :-)

What an historic and exciting election it would be as well. The dems with the possibility of the first black president and the pubbies with the possibility of the first female VP.

There are a lot more women in this country than there are blacks :-)

"Being VP has to be a quieter job than being governor of any state, including Alaska."

I agree that the job for the most part could be anything you wanted it to be. There is only one constitutional prescribed duty that I am aware of.

The Constitution of The United States of America
Section 3

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.
