EL PASO, Texas — Security is being heightened along the southern U.S. border because of a threat that warring Mexican cartels may send hit men into the United States, authorities said Monday.

Law enforcement officials would not discuss specific security measures being taken at the ports of entry, along the border or in the city of El Paso, Texas.

"We received credible information that drug cartels in Mexico have given permission to hit targets on the U.S. side of the border," El Paso police spokesman Officer Chris Mears said.

Wonderful!!!... Living in El Paso myself, it is so easy for any Mexican National to get across the border. Walmart is full every day, and they are allowed to drive through the Border Checkpoint at will no matter if they have Vehicle Insurance or not.

End the failed drug war, and these drug cartels won’t exist.

This is the only thing that will get the attention of our politicians. American politicians are so busy trying to get re-elected, and stuffing their pockets with money, that they don’t care what the people want, or what is good for the country. However, a direct threat on their lives can get their attention for a moment or two.

To the Mexicans I say, give us your best shot.

“Can we PLEASE send in some special forces and end this s***?”

Or maybe our government could give some support to the Border Patrol, especially when they shoot one of these scum bags.

“We will do nothing.”

I think you’re wrong. Our government will ACTIVELY ignore it.

The optimistic view is that the cartels got the OK from Washington. The pessimist will say that they told Washington that they were coming here.

Probably doesn’t make any difference. Our government has aided the cartels in bringing in drugs and people for years.

okay, you’re right, that we will do, in fact, this is tool to be used for the need for a North American Union, with no borders, just a living hell for it’s citizens

We should have militarized the border long ago.

It's time for McCain to wise up, and make another change in direction, similar to his position on drilling. In light of current events it is quite evident that we have a hostile neighbor who is not taking necessary measures to control their criminal element. It is simply indefensible and irresponsible not to take a firm stand on border control.

The only alternative is to resurrect Gen. Pershing, I fear.

El Paso is home to Ft. Bliss. Being stationed here, why doesn’t the Govenment (Local and Feds) come to the agreement to put some troops at the Border for checkpoints and vehicle searches? It will give the troops training for Check Points in the Middle East

So, “legalize” drugs and this will stop?

No, it will be the start of an internal war that will explode as many more addicts are made.
