Serbia concerned over Georgian crisis (Everyone have Russians of his own)

BELGRADE, Serbia: Serbia said Wednesday that a precedent set by the Western recognition of Kosovo's independence led to Russia's recognition of Georgia's two separatist regions.

Russia supported Serbia's objections in February when Kosovo declared its independence, but the U.S. and most European Union members recognized the breakaway province as a nation.

Serbia refrained from openly criticizing Russia for its armed intervention in the Georgian separatist region of South Ossetia earlier this month, and the Serbian Foreign Ministry statement Wednesday does not explicitly criticize Moscow's recognition of South Ossetia and the other Georgian region, Abkhazia.

"Serbian officials have repeatedly warned that the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence and the recognition of this illegal act could set a precedent and destabilize other regions in the world," the Serbian statement said.

Those predictions have come true, it added.

"Serbia respects international law and advocates the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of internationally recognized states, primarily of Serbia," the statement added.

Analysts say that Serbia's lack of criticism of Russia was due to fears that Moscow could stop supporting Belgrade by dropping its opposition to Kosovo's independence in the U.N. Security Council.

Russia was so committed to that position they decided to support some rebels of their own. /s

picture of Grozny after the Russians destroyed it

Title under the picture says "Russia may not spend the estimated $1 billion required to rebuild the city, instead letting it stand in ruins as a warning against separatism"

Statement by Jim Jatras Director, American Council for Kosovo Washington

...(b) Under the relevant Yugoslav and Soviet laws, KiM has no right to secede from Serbia (or from Yugoslavia before that), but the USSR’s autonomous republics (Abkhazia) and oblasts (South Ossetia) had the right to opt out of the Union Republics’ secession, in this case, the Georgian SSR, under the 1990 law on secession from the USSR .
Hence, Abkhazia and South Ossetia clearly were part of the GeSSR but never part of independent Georgia. By contrast, KiM unquestionably has been part of Serbia since before Yugoslavia was created. President Medvedev, Minister Lavrov, and Ambassador Churkin have been quite clear on these points.
They have correctly insisted that these “frozen” areas of the former USSR are far more deserving of independence than KiM is.

Now things are more interesting. Russia threatened Moldova. They , Moldovans and Romanians are good and close friends of Serbia. Romania is one solid supporter of Serbia and we do not like what could happen.

There is only one solution for situation.
USA and Russia must restrain themselves from any unilateral actions in the future. Kosovo and Ossetia are parts os Serbia and Georgia.
Ossetians should have federal republic within Georgia and that is it.

NATO claims Kosovo is special case, RF claims S.O. and Abhazia are special cases...when and where will be the next one??
With so many “special cases” this world is turning to a mad house.

I have an idea, why don't you go beg your master Putin not to resurrect the Soviet Union he misses. Since he loves you Serbs so much, I'm sure he'll do what you want. He'll probably give you nukes too, and send lots of Russians to liberate Kosovo. Why hasn't he done that yet? Everybody is still waiting for great Holy Crusader Putin to show up and save Serbia. Is he too busy sending Chechen muslims to rape and murder Orthodox Christians In Georgia?

Ukraine will split in half.
Now, we all know Russians ara about 50% of territory of Ukraine and almost half of active duty officers in Ukrainian army.
No way Ukraine can confront Russia.
Present day Ukraine is artificial Communist creation, similar to Bosnia. Half of nation does not want to be part of that nation.

As for Moldova, personally, I like Romanians and I would like to see Moldova reunite with Romania.
