Well let’s says there are 100 voters and going into the year they were split 50 GOP and 50 Dim. Let’ss says of those 100, 50 were women, 20 GOP and 30 Dim. Let’s of those 100 voters 10 were black, 6 women all voting Dim, 3 males voting Dim and 1 man plaing to vote GOP. Of the 30 Dim women, lets say that 15 are die hard H.Clinton supporters.
So we begin with the GOP having 29 nonblack men, 1 black man and 20 women voters for 50 votes. And the Dims have 24 non black women, 6 black women, 3 black men and 17 nonblack men for 50 votes.
Ok so now we start picking candidates. And make some guesses.
A. Let’s have all black voters vote Obama/Biden. We know this is a slight exaggeration, but only slight. That would make it 51-49 for Obama/Biden.
B. Let’s have similarly have one nonblack Dim leaning voter switch to McCain/Palin to move it back to 50-50.
C. So even if one-half of the 24 nonblack women are disaffected H.Clinton are voters and one-third of that 12 [half of 24] or 4 switch to the GOP it is 54 McCain/Palin to 46 Obama/Biden.
