She's a very popular governor in Alaska. This helps McCain in swing states. Obama could have chosen Hillary but went with a Washington insider old white male. And the age contrast couldn't be more strongly apparent on the bottom half of the ticket, this time in reverse!

Let's not go to extremes and made her out to be a saint or superhuman. If she was a mayor and then governor, she obviously could not have been home with her kids during those years.
