MTP round table: this time it was Maria B. from CNBC who was the Sarah Palin booster. Turns out Maria went to Alaska recently and interviewed the Governor, which probably explains why Maria was on the show in the first place.

Doris the historian was much less supportive, and Andrea Mitchell was trying to be objective, but seemed to hope that Gov. Palin fails.

The general consensus is that VP SP is a very risky choice, made for political purposes only, and could implode at any moment. Joe Biden, on the other hand, is a statesman with vast experience. (and here I thought he was just a hack).

John Kerry with a shotgun is about as effective as Barak Obama without a teleprompter.

Obama cannot speak to his closest friends such as Rev. Wright or Ayers. They were also his mentors. Nobody can explain to us why Obama should be President and why he is qualified.

Get your vote over with then turn the convention into a telethon. Raise money for the victims. Sounds like they're gonna need it.

GREAT IDEA!

get our big stars up there raising the funds, as they give bits of their speeches!

Juan Williams hope he doesn’t offend anyone by saying Sarah Palin is “attractive.”

Conservative “men” will walk the talk with Sarah Palin. We are not giving lip service, pandering platitudes to women. That’s because we base our support on issues and principle, and not simply because she’s a woman.

Obama talked a good game for change but what did he do as his first important act? He chose a running mate right out of the inside the beltway mentality of machine politics.

Agreed. Lord knows, we have waited a long time for someone of Sarah Palin’s caliber. If she does nothing else, she’s making politics more fun now. No longer are we voting for the lesser of two evils, we can support someone we respect and who could very well be the first woman US President.

Brokejaw quickly moves the topic to an earlier interview where she asks what the VP does. Gregory and Brokejaw laugh and suggest that interview will certainly be in a Rat add.

I saw the interview with Palin. It is actually a good question. The President defines what the VP does. It could or could not be a meaningful job. Historically, it has mostly been meaningless because the Presidents have not delegated much to the VP.

John Nance Garner spent his entire adult life working his way up to Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and then gave it up to become Vice President to FDR. He later said it was the "worst damn fool mistake I ever made." Garner served in that office from March 4, 1933 to January 20, 1941. Garner once described the office of the vice presidency as being "not worth a bucket of warm piss."[1] [This quote was Bowdlerized for many decades to "not worth a bucket of warm spit" by the media.

I would say that Palin's inquiry/comments showed good judgment and commonsense. She would be giving up the job of governor for VP. If McCain didn't promise here a worthwhile job, she would be a fool to take it. I assume McCain assured her that he would delegate important responsibilities to her.

McCain does not seem like a Grumpy Old Man like Sam Donaldson, Biden or Blowkaw.

Great point...McCain was very controlled, but very incisive, this morning. Palin at his side will intensify the the impression that McCain is not just an old warhorse charging with blinders. He was energetic enough this morning to dispel questions about his age while not appearing to be just acting like a younger man.

Palin is govenor of one of the smallest states in the nation.

So was their hero Bill Clinton. I don't remember the lefties & MSM having any problem with that!

At least, Sarah isn't using her state police to chase someone to have sex.
