He's a superhunky bad-boy ice hockey player from cold country; she's a chestnut-haired beauty and popular high school senior.

Soon the all-American teen twosome will make GOP vice presidential pick and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a grandma at age 44, just in time for Christmas.

Well according to the blogs it's either the dads baby, the uncles baby, the sister's husband's baby, and we still aren’t sure if the baby hasn't been born already or yet to be born.

It's all very confusing.

Young people loving too soon is not a new problem. Check your family tree. You sure there are no 7 lb premies? I prefer not to judge but use to use these two young people as a teaching example. You make a baby..you marry the mother and you raise your family. (I had all boys. Needs a little tweaking for my grand daughter:’)

They say girls marry their father. Todd Palin and Levi Johnston at comparable ages:

Never thought I’d witness this kind of thread on FR. Unmarried teens having unprotected sex with a pregnancy as a consequence is now something to be cheered and celebrated?

I haven't seen anyone celebrating the situation, but, such things occur as a fact of life! Statistically, young marriages fail at a greater frequency than older marriages but, whether marriages endure is far more dependent upon the commitment of the parties. Plus, the statistics are faulty in that prior "hook-ups" and "shack-ups" are not revealed.

It has become commonplace in recent decades to just "shack up" and euphemistically claim to be "engaged" for the duration of the attraction (regardless of whether children are involved!))

True and you stepped up to the plate. Unfortunately a lot of girls , who just knew the guy loved them and would be there to support them, are left on their own.

“Unmarried teens having unprotected sex with a pregnancy as a consequence is now something to be cheered and celebrated?”

No.

What we are cheering and celebrating is their courage and conviction in doing the right thing, and getting married, and choosing NOT TO ABORT the child.

And the tremendous family support Sarah and Todd are giving their daughter, and their soon to be son-in-law, and the as yet unborn child.

It’s not the mistakes we make in life, it’s the responsibility we take, or don’t, for them after.

As far as I'm concerned baby pictures are never out of order, you would probably get an even more strenuous agreement from my father, a Pastor, whom loves babies.

This media witch hunt is getting sicker by the minute. Now the NY Daily News and the Chicago Tribune are invading the privacy of not only Bristol Palin, but her boyfriend, his parents, his coach, his friends and their parents

Right. The article says his parents have disconnected their phone. How much longer til the media is camped outside their door? This guy is 18 years old and his entire future has changed. He has enough to deal with without the entire world invading his life. The McCain and Palin camps need to intervene NOW. Anyone halfway competent should have seen this coming a mile away. Protecting your family comes before political gain.

Love. Marriage. Sex. Children: all beautiful things. Sometimes the order is accidentally reversed!

Well said. We're not condoning the actions leading to the pregnancy, but, what's done is done, and you can't change that. The choices made once the pregnancy was known are what we're celebrating.
