Rasmussen: Obama 51 - McCain 45 (from 49-46 yesterday)
Rasmussen ^ | 09/02/2008 | Rasmussen

Posted on 09/02/2008 6:40:33 AM PDT by ubaldus

Obama is up by 6 in today's Rasmussen tracker, by 5 without leaners (48 - 43). It is obviuos that McCain had a very bad polling day yesterday, something like 42-53 daily sample or even worse.

Some of it may be statistical noise, but it appears that all the noise around Palin selection is starting to hurt.

She has to show she's more than just a pretty face. The convention is her chance to do just that. People like gorgeous folks but turn against them quickly if they're revealed to be empty suits. I think there's a difference between her life and that of Obama's... never mind Biden's.

Well, I have not heard one person complain about it that I have talked to.

Face it, even in my grandmothers day she’s 80+, you knocked a gal up you married her. She’s pregnant, she’s marrying the father... not something that ideally should have happened, but that’s the way it was... well that or disappear and put the baby up for adoption once it was born.

The disgusting behavior of the MSM and the Leftist Bloggers regarding this issue is going to turn off a lot of folks.

Middle America wants to know how she thinks the oil problem will be solved, since that is something she knows about.

It’s not a matter of “how she handles it”. It’s a matter of interviewing for a job.

I don't think there will be as much jealousy among Conservative women.

I haven't led a very accomplished life.

Yet, I'm especially glad when my children have the opportunity to admire, and possibly emulate, a woman who has accomplished a lot.

I agree. For all we know they polled among themselves and made it up.

nor does it play well with conservative Christians .

As a card carrying Christian conservative, this in fact does play well. As the father of 4 children, one adult child who caused a teenage pregnancy, and two adults who have pledged abstinence during there teen years( and who by the way know were to get BC pills and condoms), I see this as a positive. Before knowing about her pregnant daughter and only knowing her outstanding life track record, this pregnancy made her family real to me and that her faith is operating with real family problems and issues that the rest of us Christians deal with.

We have far too many "everything is good" type Christians who have abandoned Job.

“What poll was that?”

They just mentioned in on FOX NEWS today. A few minutes ago. It was a poll on likely GOP voters. At some point it should be on the FOX NEWS website if it is not already. I haven’t checked.

39% for Sarah
39% against Sarah
the rest undecided

Since it was limited to Republicans it caught my attention.
Right now you have allot of positive spin from those who fear Obama to influence the others that aren’t so sure about his pick. The quieter ones are unsure ... there are some ideologies being violated here - role reversal (Mr. Mom) ... pregnant teen - no one wants their daughter in this situation and with Mom not around ... it doesn’t reflect too well .... but no one really wants to talk about it ... . Later there is trooper gate ... with Sarah ... what a pain ... .

Got links?

Sure.

Gallup's daily tracking poll has Obama up 6.

Gallup's regular poll has Obama up 7.

Hotline has Obama up 9.

CBS Has Obama up 8.

Not aware of any other national polls (aside from the Rasmussen) conducted since the Palin pick.

Just remember. This is right out the morons’ playbook. They want you distracted and mad and playing childish games so you won’t focus on the issues.

The Christians I am referrring to are the ones that don’t buy into role reersal - Mr. Mom. Many are not sold on that. They also don’t like the results of Mom not being around ... .

Talk up your view to those undecided or unsure ... .

To be honest I’m quite disgusted with some of the Romney supporters who does not like this pick.

At first I though the reports of Romney supporters (on FR at least) sticking the knife in Palin's back was a bunch of tin foil, but today the evidence has been pretty clear. Disgusting that they would side with the libs to sling mud just because they got a big mouthful of sour grapes.

We're hoping that Sarah can keep up her enthusiasm...it's not easy when you know your daughter is hurting, and Bristol has to be hurting with her condition blasted all over the news...

You way, way underestimate the strength of character of people like this. This is squat.

He’s not from DU.

He has the right to not agree with you. He apologized for misreading a headline on Sarah’s husband being drunk - that was 20 years ago - he owned up to his mistake.

Stop acting like a liberal when others don’t agree with you.

You hit the nail on the head. No, this does not play well with pro marriage & family voters. You can see from FR threads the division, denial, spin, and double standard it has caused.

It concerns me that Obama is getting very close to the 50% mark. I don't think either Kerry or Gore got to that mark. And with Barr the spoiler stealing votes from the Republicans, the reality to a President Obama looks all too possible.

No one wants to talk about it ...

It’s a MAJOR shift, AGAIN in ideology and from the genuine Christian perspective the role of males and females in a family ... . I’m not thrilled with it nor would I endorse THAT kind of a family but I will hold my nose and vote for them out of fear of the Obomination.

“I don’t think there will be as much jealousy among Conservative women.”

Conservative women aren’t the problem. McCain was already getting the vast majority of conservative women, even without Palin. And he was winning independent males, slightly. This pick is designed to win over independent females and hopefully some PUMAs. So far, it isn’t working. That doesn’t mean it won’t work; it means that Palin has some work to do proving that she deserves to be on the ticket.
