Hard on Palin, soft on Obama
Washington Times ^ | 9/7/2008 | Diana West

Posted on 09/07/2008 7:37:32 AM PDT by markomalley

Alas, we have just passed another marker on the way down. That's "we" as in "We, the people," and that's "down" as in "glug, glug." This marker will stand as a testament to the savage zeal with which our mainstream media gentlemen (hah) and gentlewomen (double hah) of the Fourth Estate, cosseted darlings of the Free World standing ever-vigilant to ensure that truth will out (hah hah hah), have sunk their teeth into the Palin family.

What started on or about Labor Day and has continued ever since, is what's known as a media "feeding frenzy," a condition of non-abating bloodlust for political prey (usually conservative political prey) that is strikingly similar to the agitated state of piranhas in a tank at feeding time. Top McCain strategist Steve Schmidt recently told Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz that this was the worst feeding frenzy he'd ever seen. I agree, and if I might flash some old-timer credentials, I covered the GOP convention in 1988 when Dan Quayle was the bait and Don Kowet, then-media critic for the Washington Times, typed out the phrase "feeding frenzy," giving it a new and enduring currency. In Mr. Schmidt's interview with Mr. Kurtz — which Mr. Kurtz described as "extraordinary" and "emotional" — Mr. Schmidt explained what it was like to be on the receiving end of such an attack.

"The campaign has been inundated by hundreds and hundreds of calls from some of the most respected reporters and news organizations," Mr. Schmidt said. "Many reporters have called the campaign and have apologized for asking the questions and said, `Our editors are making us do this, and I am ashamed.'"

Is the double entendre in the title intentional?

Campbell Brown didn’t look or sound ashamed at all when she was asking those hard-ball questions about Sarah Palin. Perhaps she was inwardly rejoicing at the chance of bringing down a dumb Alaskan female Governor.

Hard and soft.

As in Obama considered joining the military is news.

Palin going to multiple colleges is scandal.

So. Two purple hearts and a silver star for O. And impeachment (can they do that already?/sarc.) for Sarah.

Yeesh.

Let two corporate leaders meet and agree on anything and they will be imprisoned for conspiracy to..............pick your own.

Using the same critera, the entire meia should be imprisoned for conspiracy to destroy a country.

But that's just the first item on a long list of passes the media have given Mr. Obama — passes on vital matters of character, judgment and political belief.

It's all part of the Karaoke Media Machine whereby the NYT loads in the lyrics and the repetitive amateur singing begins- pitiful!

"Many reporters have called the campaign and have apologized for asking the questions and said, `Our editors are making us do this, and I am ashamed.'"

I don't believe this statement.

The media, from the coiffured anchor metrosexuals on the evening news, down to the last blonde weather presenter for WPOS in Podunk, USA, is totally in the tank for Baraq Husayn ibn Mahomet, The One (piss be upon him).

There's a meme starting to spread on and off the web by the MSM types. They are claiming that McCain's pushback at the media is a case of trying "to work the refs." We can not only put a stop to this but use it toour advantage.

McCain's people and GOPers must remind the voters that the media should be in the stands reporting on the game not trying to fix the outcome. They are not referees or umpires who have no stake in the contest's outcome and a reporter has NO place in the game itself.

This meme shows clearly that the MSM, by its own admission, wants in the game and wants a result. Use this meme of theirs to highloght their purpose to manipulate the outcome.

More recently, Daniel Pipes put together a must-read survey of attitudes throughout the Islamic world toward Mr. Obama. I believe this is the Pipes article mentioned: http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5845

Obama is the media’s girl. Hard questions...? They pine for him, long to be in his presence, beneath his effeminate gaze.

I’d believe some of these reporters are sincere if I found one instance where one of them showed some backbone and resigned in protest.

I say this having mentally stacked the questions the media have already asked Mrs. Palin in two days of intrusive and pointless questions against the glaringly obvious questions the media have never asked Mr. Obama in two years.

She than goes on to name the total lack of interest by the press in Obama's relationship with Tony Rezko, William Ayers and Mazan Asbahi.

The news media is a joke, a big friggin, dangerous joke!!

Is anyone surprised? Fortunately, Palin looks like she is ready to play hardball, and Obama is soft in the head.
