A gaffe is FAIR GAME. Or I can't spell potato.

Isn't this the guy who's going to bring world peace just at the sound of his voice and words?

So ...uh...why is he...um...come on, now...let's get real here...you know as well as I know... Mr. Stumblelips?

Listen to the whole exchange in context. The guy can barely speak, much less make the waters part! Incoherent!

A gaffe is FAIR GAME. Or I can't spell potato.

The singular spelling variants "potato" vs. "potatoe" co-existed into the 19th century. In the 20th century "potato" came to be considered the correct singular, and "potatoe" considered a misspelling. The plural remains "potatoes'".

Your just a kid! is all ;-)

What cracked me up is George answering the questions via interjections as Obama stumbled through trying to answer the question.

I’ve not watched any Obama interviews - so now I see why you guys are calling him Stumblelips and so forth. Wow.

Or I can't spell potato.

You left off the e.

In grade school (50s) I taught it could be spelled both ways.

Right. A gaffe is fair game. Absolutely. All we need do is lampoon Milhous, “He Who Must Not be Named”.

Barack Obama is a lawyer. As such, words are the tools of his trade. But more than that, he is a Harvard educated Lawyer who attained the position of editor of the Harvard Law Review. As such, he lays claim to a special mastery of the use of his profession's tools.

A “gaffe” such as this does raise questions - and should.
