MSNBC TAKES INCENDIARY HOSTS FROM ANCHOR SEAT... DEVELOPING...
Drudge ^

Posted on 09/07/2008 6:33:59 PM PDT by flyfree

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.

That experiment appears to be over.

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left.

“The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Did MSNBC Leak Noonan/Murphy ‘Political BS’ Exchange on Palin?

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/09/05/blogger-says-mccain-speech-protestors-had-msnbc-badges

I took the shuttle bus back to Minneapolis, and I overheard a convention organizer named Phil telling a convention delegate that the protesters on Wednesday night got through because of media credentials that were traced back to MSNBC (he told her that each credential has an individual bar code for each convention invitee). They suspect MSNBC this time as well.

LOL. How could the channel possibly be perceived to have shifted to the left. The only way to do that would be to channel Karl Marx.

Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

That is simply rearranging the deck chairs. If they wanted to show that they are sorry for their sorry and biased coverage, they would keep those guys away from any and all election coverage.

Olbermann's comments after the 9/11 tribute during the RNC was one of the lowest moments for network news. I would hope that Tom Brokaw was horrified by his remarks.

Here is his quote, which, as the events of 9/11, we will never forget:

“I’m sorry, it’s necessary to say this and I have to separate myself from the others on the air about this. If at this late date, any television network, had on its own accord, should show that much videotape and that much graphic videotape of 9/11, and I speak as someone who lost a few friends, there, it, we, would be rightly eviscerated at all quarters, perhaps by the Republican party itself, for exploiting the memories of the dead, and perhaps even for trying to evoke that pain again. Uh, if you reacted to that videotape the way I did, I apologize, Uh, it is the subject of great pain for many of us still and probably was not appropriate that it be shown.”

You bring up two pretty good points...the Noonan leak and the protestors who we still haven’t learned how they got in there (was there a definitive story on this?)

It is possibly that MSNBC staffers were gleefully behind the whole thing....heck maybe Olberman himself masterminded it.

I think it means they’re not liberal enough for NBC. NBC found out that through all of their blather, nobody really cared what they thought.

It looks like they are just rearranging the chairs on the MSNBC Titanic. The media is running for the hills and foaming at the mouth now that they can’t destroy Governor Palin.
