NYT: 'Journalists Wrinkled Their Nose in Disgust' at Piper's Touching Gesture
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/07/2008 7:59:34 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

When NewsBusters posted the screencap shown here as its Weekend Captionfest on Friday, the result was an outpouring of affectionate reader responses. Typical was this one, from "iveseenitall":

"The ladies in my house instantly fell for this kid. "Oh" and "Oooh" and "Ah". The giggles, the pointing at the t.v. Love all around that night."

The MSM lives in a different house. Check out this candid admission from New York Times media reporter David Carr in his article in today's NYT [emphasis added]:

"In the press galleries at the convention, journalists wrinkled their noses in disgust when Piper, Ms. Palin’s youngest daughter, was filmed kitty-licking her baby brother’s hair into place."

Is the use of “Ms. Palin” in NYT style book or does it hurt their fingers to type Gov. Palin?

"What kind of bizarro bubble are these journalists living in? I'm really beginning to wonder."

They must be in a completely different universe than we are. Seems to me that anyone who watched that adorable and loving act and thought it was disgusting has lost a big part of their soul somewhere along the way. I pity them.

“journalists wrinkled their noses in disgust when Piper, Ms. Palin’s youngest daughter, was filmed kitty-licking her baby brother’s hair into place.”

How does one account for that, absent the influence of the Evil One?

“How can I be sure that you won’t take my words and twist them to suit some agenda that you already have?”

Why would you suspect for a nanosecond that he wouldn’t?

You’ve hit on something indirectly, and that is I’m sure that the men and women in those press galleries have had first hand experience with abortions well above the rates of their peers. These folks in many cases are depraved.

From what I hear from the PUMAs, they’re going to fight to the death to elect McCain, in gratitude for him choosing such a formidable, accomplished, skilled predator with a record of leaving sexist men huddled on the floor in tears.

While I enjoy reading the accolades of Palin, let us not forget we're having to elect McCain to get her.

If you were able to look at that scene and not feel the warm fuzzies in your heart, then you must be cold and dark down the very core of your soul.

GL - good find. Not only Sarah, but her whole family seems to have a innate knack for separating salt of the earth common folk from the synthetic elitists. This is turning out to be an amazingly discriminating election. At the precipice of defeat, is it possible we have turned and will finally purge ourselves of neoliberalism? What a gift McCain, of all people, has given us! Maybe his advanced years have brought new wisdom - or has he just been lucky? Dare I say that the press is risking self-destruction? Amazing.

I’ve never seen a more comfortable, relaxed family than the Palins. My family and theirs could have a barbeque together and we would all have a lovely. fun time.

Here is an example of the “Palin effect” on American voters.

My wife...... she hardly follows politics. Probably couldn’t even name 10 politicians. Two weeks ago, she said she wasn’t very impressed with Obama’s running mate “Joe Liberman”. (thats right, she thought Liberman was running)

Anyway, all she is talking about the last week is Palin. All of her friends at work are talking about Palin. She never talks about politics, even though she has to listen to me. (I guess she tunes me out)

Anyway, this is all folks at my work are talking about. And I work at a site that employees over 5,000 people.

Piper is about as adorable as they come. That was one of the cutest moments of all time. Liberals are so out of touch they can’t see true love of a family when it smacks them across the face.

What kind of man uses the term “kitty-licking”? This guy’s a metrosexual at best. A real man would have called it spit combing.

Five years ago the New York Times stock was hoovering around 50 bucks. It closed Friday at $13.57. Gee, do you think the bias reporting has anything to do with that. They will all be standing in the unemployment line before it's over.

Look at the whole statement in context. The NYT guy actually wrote some good things about Palin:

"In the press galleries at the convention, journalists wrinkled their noses in disgust when Piper, Ms. Palin’s youngest daughter, was filmed kitty-licking her baby brother’s hair into place. But to many Americans — including some I talked to in the convention hall — that looked like family church on Sunday, evidence of good breeding and sibling regard."
