For more than two decades, current Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was a practicing Pentecostal.
Sarah Palin asked church members to pray for $30 billion natural gas pipeline in Alaska.
She belonged to the Wasilla Assembly of God church in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. But though she attended the church from her teenage years through to 2002, she hasn't talked much about her religion since joining the Republican ticket.
Palin's former pastor, Tim McGraw, says that like many Pentecostal churches, some members speak in tongues, although he says he's never seen Palin do so. Church member Caroline Spangler told CNN, "When the spirit comes on you, you utter things that nobody else can understand ... only God can understand what is coming out of our mouths."
Some Pentecostals from Assembly of God also believe in "faith healing" and the "end times" -- a violent upheaval that they believe will deliver Jesus Christ's second coming.

Some non-Pentecostals (even many of us who are 5 point Calvinists) believe in divine healing and the second coming too.
It's very weird to people who don't do it, and have never seen it. Which includes Jews, Catholics, mainline Protestants, most evangelicals, agnostics and atheists. And while I fit into the most latter category, it doesn't trouble me a bit. However, there is a battle being fought over the mushy middle, which tends not to be familar with glossalia. The far left is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Sarah Palin.
So now liberals are "English Only"?
I may not agree with Pentecostals (or closer to home the Charismatics) on every point but... does this make them unfit to govern? I don't think so. And I am actively supporting the efforts of a member of the LDS church (Mormon) to be my state rep once again.
Oh, it makes me so angry...why is Christianity the only religion allowed to be dismantled piece by piece and put under a microscope by those who reject God? I'm not even a Christian and it infuriates me.
Unless she says "my Hindu faith" in which case she has a voting block larger than the population of the U.S.A.
Are these people that stupid. First question Gov Palins experience that shined a big spotlight right back on Obama. Now religion. Get ready for the spotlight Obama. Just when you thought JW was in the past.
What a bunch of hateful people in this blog. What if your wrong, and there is a God and He is The One (THE REAL ONE, so your not confused dems, I don't mean Barrack H Obama) I mean the One true God who all will have to stand before one day and give an accounting of our lives, like the choices we made like voting for someone who says abortion up to 9 months, oh, I'm sorry, killing a baby after it is born is ok, or transvestites, gays, lesbians, and what ever else you can think of; they should be able to marry AND be able to adopt (according to Michele Obama’s latest speech-anything to get a few more votes) None of this bothers you right? When we fight evil people in this world, your against it. That's bad. You side with terrorist because you hate that the president took out an evil dictator who killed men, women & CHILDREN (oh that's right, killing children after there born is ok) . And don't give me the line about the president lied.. Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Kennedy,,,,,all said they seen the same intel the president had and agreed Saddam needed to be stopped,
but then,
there was an election coming up and they needed to find something wrong with Bush, so let's pretend the dems all didn't see the intel (the drive-bys will help them cover up) You all walk lockstep behind the a party that has no conscience. Your blind and don't even know it. Your values angers us so much. But, we do pray for you. We really do pray that you will find the God who will open your eyes, and show you His truth. THE ONLY TRUTH<
She did not ask them to pray for the pipeline. She asked them to be praying ABOUT it. Big difference.
When the MSM has been covering your back for a while you get careless..
That's because when someone like Dan Brown actually makes things up on his own they it treat like absolute truth.
She’s a true believer and she represents all that is good and decent.
That is exactly why they hate her.
It says so in the bible.
How ridiculous is this! I really think these ridiculous attacks help Mccain and Palin.
You mean to tell me she claims to be a Christian and then asks people to pray?????????? I’m shocked, I tell ya.
“...like many Pentecostal churches, some members speak in tongues, although he says he’s never seen Palin do so.”
If he wanted to see “tongues speakers” he should have gone to the DNC convention in Denver:

“...Even worse, the Democrats have little credibility on taking on the extremist religious views of Palin because they appointed a CEO of their convention who speaks in tongues, believes in faith healing and sees nothing wrong with teaching creationism in public schools and made a point of excluding secular organizations from their God-fest in Denver.
As long as the Democrats think they can win by being only a little less repulsive than the Republicans they will continue to lose.
I was a Democrat, and supported their candidates in every election since I became eligible to vote in 1976 until, in disgust, I recently changed my registration to unaffiliated. I’m tired of the Dems taking my vote for granted. If they don’t want to compete for my support I’m staying home this year.
Aonymous said.. Don’t forget that the Chief of Staff of the DNC and the CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee, Leah Daughtry, is also a “tongue speaker.” I don’t think it’s very responsible to try to read much into somebody’s life or politics simply because they are Pentecostal or speak in tongues.

Is the Democratic Party suicidal? The head of the DNC’s religious outreach, Leah Daughtry who, in addition to believing that God finds abortion acceptable (something I find hard to swallow even as an agnostic), is a believer in the same Marxist “Black Liberation Theology” preached by Reverend Wright. This from a glowing puff piece about Ms. Daughtry from the New York Times:
Behind her as she preached, a simple wooden cross hung on a brick wall in the vaulted and sizable sanctuary of the church, which is headed by her father, Herbert Daughtry. A prison convert who served time in his early 20s for armed robbery and passing bad checks, Herbert Daughtry whose father founded the church and whose grandfather and great-grandfather were also ministers became the churchs pastor 50 years ago, and today Leah was delivering the sermon as part of an anniversary celebration.
Below the sanctuary, in the fellowship hall, a banner for slavery reparations proclaimed, They Owe Us. Fliers recounted Herbert Daughtrys arrest, a few weeks earlier, as he led marchers protesting the not-guilty verdict in the police killing of Sean Bell, an unarmed black man. His ministry has always combined consuming spirituality with black liberation theology the theology Jeremiah Wright invoked this spring to defend his controversial sermons and zealous political activism. Leah holds these forces within her.
But wait there’s more! This New York-born Pentecostal minister is not only the head of their religious outreach, she’s the CEO of the Democratic National Convention! That’s right, the CEO of the DNC is a MARXIST! Folks...do we really need any more proof?
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
