Jane Swift went quickly to work this evening as a leader of a brand new "truth squad" defending GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, excoriating Barack Obama for a comment he made while campaigning in Virginia today.
Obama told voters that they shouldn't believe McCain and Palin's talk about reforming Washington. "You can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said. "It's still a pig."
Republicans took offense, saying that was a personal attack on Palin, who during the GOP convention speech last week, asked delegates if they knew the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull. Pointing to her mouth, she exclaimed, "Lipstick."
Swift told reporters on a conference call that Obama's comment was "disgraceful" and that "he owes Governor Palin an apology."
Challenged about how she could be sure that Obama was referring to Palin, Swift replied, "She's the only one of the four presidential or vice presidential candidates who wears lipstick."

I don't know or care if BO meant it the way it was interpreted or if he is just that whimsically challenged.
Either way. Good for us. Get every single inch out of this. Spell out the fish inference, shame the sexist lipstick carnage and feast on him about calling Palin a pig.
LET HIM HAVE IT! This has long been a democrat tactic to blow up a bad choice of words. Now the media may be paying attention.
BO is either going to have to apologize and admit he is not omnipotent. Or he is going to have to defend this as some shallow attempt by the right wing conspiracy to misconstrue his words. Either way, this should be good for another 2 or 3 points.

Obama knew exactly who he was referring to... Palin.
He thought he was being sly and witty.

I was thinking the same thing of the "My Muslim Faith" comment. Where are the legs on that one?
Is this going to be an campaign season where HE will make dozens of gaffes, which will lead to one Biggy that does him in? "My Muslim Faith" was pretty revealing, and should be that BIG one.
Yesterday morning on FoxNews, two different Dem commentators* mixed up the phrase by using “lipstick” and “pig” rather than “pit-bull”.
Both tried to make it appear as a slip-of-the-tongue. With Obama using it today, it seems that yesterday's use was a trial balloon to see how it would be received.
