Political suicide. It would be viewed as a desperation move.

That would effectively be the end of the election for Obama. He can’t give people the impression that he couldn’t he even get his decision on a running mate in the correct column. It would be too late, and the hope of getting a new pick out into the public eye would be massively shrouded by the story of Biden getting dropped.
Put it this way, if he dumps Biden, he’s telling the country, “I think I’m going to lose”, and, frankly, people don’t vote for losers.

I think it would look to the people that he was in a panic and he would only do it to win, not to do the right thing. I also believe that his wife stopped him from appointing Hillary. They hate each other.

Could he actually do it and get away with it? The answer is no...

Like Rudy said, “Fitty Watt” Biden needs to get the Veep offer in writing.

He could get away with it with his acolytes and disciples.
That includes the MSM.
But not with anyone outside that group.
That dog would not hunt.
And that pig would not oink.

Had he chosen a more inspiring running mate, it would have partially blunted the impact of the Palin nomination. However, it's way too late now. If he did this, he would look like an opportunistic flake.

In order to make it look half-way convincing, Biden would have to fall on his sword in some spectacular way, and Obama would “reluctantly” select another running mate. Only way it flies with the public. Could be done.

Now. What would the consequences be if Obiden tried to replace Obama at the top of the ticket with a woman. LOL!

Sure he could do it...and he would make McGovern look like a winner by the time the election was over. The only scenario I can envision would be if Biden were to have a serious accident or illness that would garner some sort of public sympathy that would carryover into the campaign with a new and healthy VP pick. And if Hillary is chosen, Obama would succumb to illness by Feb.2009.

Still, he needs to do SOMETHING.
So maybe he could have Biden start wearing dresses and heels instead!

There's a very clear difference in the two candidates that might not have been evident a month ago. It's called Ego.
John McCain seems absolutely delighted that his crowds have swelled because of Sarah Palin. He's not completely full of himself. I guess getting the crap beaten out of you for five and a half years by the Cong does that to you.
On the other hand, Barry had to be the star of his own show, and he certainly didn't want to share any spotlight with the Toons. So he deliberately picked the second most boring man who ran against him (sorry, I gotta put Chris Doddering at the head of that list!)
Pride goeth before a fall.
