Dr. Andre Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), told the Globe and Mail yesterday, "Palin's decision to keep her baby, knowing he would be born with the condition, may inadvertently influence other women who may lack the necessary emotional and financial support to do the same."
"The worry is that this will have an implication for abortion issues in Canada," he said.
Under the facade of "freedom to choose", Lalonde said that "popular messages" about women like Palin, who choose not to kill their unborn children, "could have detrimental effects on women and their families."

Canadians are conflicted and confused. Eventually we will have to set them straight.
Translation:
“The worry is that more women may choose to keep their developmentally challenged children, thereby overloading the already foundering Canadian health system as those children require more services.”
It’s interesting that the “freedom to choose” is referred to as a facade in this instance when the mother chooses not to abort her baby.
Where socialized medicine will lead in the future is as follows: if parents give birth to a child knowing the child is afflicted with a genetic defect, in order to reserve precious monitary resources, the mother will not receive prenatal care or hospitalization, and the child will not recieve medical care, because the child is nothing but a "useless eater" and should have been aborted.
I think you know as do I that giving the chance it would not be a choice at all but instead abortion would be an obligation.
These know-it-all people claim they’re so concerned about us women and our “emotional” capabilities and disabilities. Funny they never worry for a second just how much the years after women have abortions and are broken in spirit and riddled with guilt affect them. Oh, I forget. Abortion doctors get to bury their mistakes and suicides due to this outrage; so no one knows, not even them. Oh, and I forgot, they get to stick a tidy abortion fee in their pockets and just wait until they can gouge the taxpayers for their fees and sell all those embryonic stem cells. . then, abortion will be sold as a “noble” thing to do in order to “help” our fellow man. - There’s no good reason for doing a bad thing. - Must murder of babies be the price these little ones have to pay for the thrill of a momentary tickle and a snicker for their irresponsible parents? God help us!
Abortion is not one of my main political issues, but this is just scary. They are afraid that fewer women are going to choose to have abortions?
A SIL delivered a Down’s syndrome baby today. We’re happy all is well . . .
Wow...just Wow.
I’m physically sick...just sickening.
Satanic....that’s the only way to describe it. Evil.
Congratulations to all!
Princeton University has a professor who promotes the right to kill your baby up to one month after birth if it’s handicapped. He has recently extended that to up to two years of age to harvest organs.
This man’s classes are filled.
There are some of us who have surpassed the nazi’s.
He should be watched closely.
As far as his students go, they probably think it's a trip taking a class from an old reprobate like that.
Thank you - I will pass it on.
The elite universities are driving their agenda with no regard for life at all. Consider the Weather Underground savages. All well educated from wealthy families.
We must do everything in our power to see that Sarah is our vice president. We are going to need her to be president one of these days.
I hope stories like this bring you to the conclusion that it is THE moral issue of our lifetime. This story demostrates why - health care professionals suggesting a moral obligation to kill your baby - this is the road that a flippant attitude towards abortion leads. I suggest you check out Jill Stanek’s congressional testimony.
A SIL delivered a Downs syndrome baby today. Were happy all is well . . .
Aww...I’m happy for you! They are such sweet and loveable little souls!
My aunt had a DS child and even though everyone told her to institutionalize him. she kept him and raised him just like she had her other four children. Because of that he is very high functioning and is over 50 years old!
Live babies, what a tragedy! Rot in hell.
