"Whether this ability was put into the bacteria from the beginning or evolved independently is immaterial to the fact that a bacteria under stress intentionally increases its mutation rate in order to increase its chances of successful evolution."

Huge critical-thinking error by proposing the fallacy of Affirming the Consequent as an argument to 'support' evolution.

A theory is judged by its explanatory and predictive powers. The theory of evolution through natural selection of genetic variation has an answer at the ready for why a bacteria under stress would increase its mutation rate.

What answer do you have?

What? Still no answer?

Why would a bacteria under stress intentionally increase its mutation rate?
