There will be a record number of presidential candidates before the voters on the general election ballot in Florida.
Secretary of State Kurt Browning has certified 13 candidates, including U.S. Sen. John McCain and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, for the Nov. 4 election; with space on the ballot to write-in another.
County supervisors of elections are expected to complete their ballots early next week, as they have to be ready to mail overseas by Sept. 20.
The ballot also includes perennial candidates James Harris of Floridas Socialist Workers Party and Ralph Nader, now of the Ecology Party of Florida, along with former U.S. Representatives Bob Barr, Libertarian, and Cynthia McKinney, Green Party.
Among the three socialists is Brian Moore, who ran for U.S. Senator in Florida in 2006.
Noticeably absent is Congressman Ron Paul, who is on the Montana ballot and is expected to announce his intentions for the fall presidential election on Sept. 10.
Meanwhile, only votes for write-in candidate Gary Nettles of Tarpon Springs will be counted in the final election results.
For presidential candidates on the Florida ballot, the previous high was 10 in 2000. Two other candidates were certified as write-ins.
In 2004, eight candidates were on the ballot.
There were four presidential candidates on Floridas ballot in 1996, with four others as official write-in candidates.

Now the retards down there can vote for someone other than Pat Buchanan.
Ayn Rand herself said it wasn't time to form a party. She didn't dig the Libertarians, either.
I love Ayn Rand - I cried like a little girl when I learned she was dead, but... come on... this is an exercise is futility. Barr has a better chance of being elected.
Palm Beach County again. Center of the Storm 2000.
- deleted what I wanted to say -
They forgot “Hanging Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson”.
Vote for only five, including write-ins. If you can’t write, aks for an election official’s assistance, or any dimmacrat.
O<------Incredibly small type that old people can't read
The butterfly ballot------>O
O<------The two page ballot which causes some people to vote once on each page.
Anyone of those is a reason for the Dems to sue and have the election voided if McCain wins.
What great way of building confusion into the process.
Why not have chads attached with alligator clips to bare copper wire?
And on the other end a 23 reel slot machine
Obama receives a vote when the reels move.
Votes for McCain-Palin are only counted when all 23 reels have Super Jackpots Special Triple Sevens on the center lines.
Senator Reid has absolute confidence in the new system.
Lots of names on the Florida Ballot.
But there will be fewer fraudulent voters in Nov 2008.

I will accept that change any day!!!!
Conservatives need an alternative to the Republican party to keep the RP honest (at best) and replace it (at worst), but we don't need a pointless proliferation based on every distinction in every platform topic.
HAHAHA! Quidne?
