This was not a smart thing to do as she is a governor and can send out the legal-beagles, and as a Presidential candidate the Secret Service responds to all assaults against such a person aggressively.

I voted about 20 minutes before the poll closed. It took a while for my vote to register. At that time the poll results were: 1% harmless prank, 99% dirty trick.

I don't care for McCain, but this is sleazy.

Palin is a citizen first. She has a right to expect private phone calls and private email. This is disgusting. Will they raid her pantie drawer next? They subpoena her husband, mock her kids. Now this. This is getting filthy. The secret service better have the scum that did this in the news by tomorrow.

The company I used to work for had “company e-mail”, but the software was lousy. I ended up using Juno (which has easy to use “webmail” AND bulk “direct” download to HD.) So what I would do is use webmail to screen out junk, and then download the rest to HD with one click. No more than one “overnight” worth of e-mail was ever actually hanging out there on the web. That said, I also used Yahoo as a backup, as sometimes e-mail from overseas would go through intermediaries that were also carrying (or sending?) spam, and Juno would block them. I’d check Yahoo each day and if something necessary showed up there instead, I’d forward it to my Juno acct. Anything sensitive, I’d then delete off Yahoo. This was probably not the greatest setup, but it worked ok for me.

Now, as for hackers... It seems to me that these people, writers of viruses, etc., need to start receiving MUCH more severe sentences. If the sentences are severe enough, and publicized, this stuff would diminish, even if the relative likelyhood of getting caught is low. Maybe this particular example would be a good one (5 years in an Alaskan jail?)

This might have started as a "prank" but the hacker was clearly intent on politically destroying Sarah and thus helping 0bambi:

"I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped, all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family...I really wanted to get something incriminating which I was sure there would be, just like all of you anon out there that you think there was some missed opportunity of glory, well there WAS NOTHING, I read everything, every little blackberry confirmation… all the pictures, and there was nothing, and it finally set in, THIS internet was serious"

When the FBI finds this turd curled up in his closet they are going to find he is a grungy leftwing ObamaBot in bad need of a bath.

The possible ties to a Tennessee Rat politician wouldn't surprise me - remember the 2004 election shenanigans with slashed tires with the perps being workers from the DemocRat Party.

Found an interesting line from the story that is linked through Drudge:

The Secret Service contacted The Associated Press on Wednesday and asked for copies of the leaked e-mails, which circulated widely on the Internet. The AP did not comply."

Why would the AP defy the SS on such a simple request? I know they are highly biased but aren't they a)opening up unnecessary scrutiny on themselves and b) giving this story legs (something I'm sure they don't want)?

If it is an inside job at Yahoo!, then Yahoo! management may be getting to have a nice, LONG talk with the FBI and Secret Service. And find out whoever leaked it was offered a bribe to leak it in the first place.

Here is a 4chan.org timeline writeup of what happened during the Palin e-mail address hack. No incriminating or confidential info...just the order in which things went down.

http://pastebin.com/f652c44fb

If you aren’t familiar with 4chan then I’m afraid there isn’t enough text space in the whole internet to adequately explain what it’s all about.

"Gabriel Ramuglia might be a good place to start."

Just what I imagined, some pimply faced loser. Btw, nice shoes to be wearing to the prom.

Kind of strange that he's originally from Anchorage, Alaska.

I think I read that he is one of the good guys. Very good at finding out who is doing the hacking.

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

“Not really. What happened here is that Governor Palin used an email service that has a long history of security problems. And using ANY third party email system leaves you open to having the people that run the place.”

I’m tired of you blaming the victim. How about blaming the freakin lawbreakers who BROKE THE LAW. Basically what you are saying is that any email account can be broken into, therefor she shouldn’t have used it.

WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE EMAIL, THEN? ANYBODIES EMAIL CAN BE BROKEN INTO!!!!

How about saving your scoldings and tsk-tsks for the LAW BREAKERS?

I hate hackers with a PASSION. The internet and email could revolutionize this country many magnituted more than it already has, but businesses and individuals avid making that leap because THEY CAN’T TAKE THE RISK WITH THE LAWBREAKERS OUT THERE WHO COULD SINK THEM.

Hackers should get the death penalty, and no, I am NOT kidding.

May as well be, but no.

Don't get confused by the "wiki". "Wiki" is a type of web software in use for various things. Like at my work we use the wiki software for internal software and procedure documentation.
