Doesn’t matter who did the hacking or who knew about it. It was almost certainly someone out to harm SP. The mere fact that it happened will boomerang and gain SP the benefit of the considerable moral outrage that is sure to result. I can’t imagine what awful things would be in these emails that would make much of a negative difference in the long run. This will turn out to be an even bigger boost than Charlie Gibson.

Who says she uses it for official business!? The jerks who broke into her account, that’s who.

This is her PERSONAL EMAIL account.

Now that she’s a VP nominee it becomes the business of the Secret Service and they will track this down.

The hackers are scum and need some serious jail time, but thankfully, the emails they did steal look harmless. It’s annoying though that her contacts (friends and family members) now have to close their accounts and set-up new ones somewhere else to avoid the left-wing sickos out there.

Most of the released .jpgs of her mail are harmless and actually put her in a good light. Not all the emails are posted however - only 5-6.

Someone sent an email to Ivy her personal assistant claiming he found out the account was hacked, changed the password again and notified Ivy to prevent further abuse.

It was a play on Watergate. (”What did the President know, and when did he know it.”

I vote for “breaking news.” This needs to get wide dissemination. I asked the mods to move it there, to no avail apparently.

If this really was her e-mail account that was hacked, you can easily reverse trace this back to the IP address of the hacker. Even if they used a proxy or multiple proxies, the IP’s can be traced back through each step to the source ISP. I do it all the time to track Al-Qaeda sites. On the net it may not be known who you are, but it is easy to find out where you are. A competent tech could know who this is in a day or two.

This is FBI-level and Secret Service-level crimes.

Justice must follow up on this immediately, as if it were a threat to a president.

Got it! LOL
Really, I wouldn’t mind seeing a “Deep Throat” put the finger on The One or one of his bots!! Either way, I don’t see how SP can lose by this. This just strengthens the bond so many people already feel they have with her. Hate scum? Support Sarah!

If she only has 84 messages in her Yahoo “in” box, she’s much better at deleting them than I am.

Yes but that allows her to keep correspondence beyond the reach of the Alaska legislature.

That's assuming the e-mails were actually written by her.

I love her even more after reading the “damning” email.

Perfect punctuation, grammar, spelling. Proper spacing. She is the BEST!

Not blaming the victim but simply stating that a governor of a state should not trust the security of their communication to a company that has very little e-mail security.

It would be like if you were to leave the front door of your house wide open when you were on vacation and were robbed.

The burglars are criminals but you used poor judgement in leaving your front door wide open.

Correct on encryption.

While it’s good to delete all that - once the bits are out there, they’re out there for ever. All the data tracking, logging, etc that happens across all the server hops there is no hope that anything send electronically is private or unrecoverable.

That also means yahoo could most likely figure out who the hacker is...if they wanted too. I hope the FBI/CIA get involved (did I just say that?)
