I know what you’re saying about truly poor in other countries and I agree. But, I would argue that if not for a social safety net, they’d be no better off than those in Mexico.

I know most of the Medicaid and so-called welfare is fraud. But not all. The dems just want to put more people on it and guarantee their future votes.

I’d prefer to root out the fraud and lower government spending. THAT would be the truly patriotic thing to do.

I'd prefer the government not even be in the "welfare" business at all.

It's not constitutional and they're bad at it.

Let private entities (churches, charities, individuals) care for the poor, voluntarily, with their own money and voluntary donations.

Government welfare isn't voluntary, as far as the source of their money.
