If you click "Battleground" you get a PDF file of the poll internals.

TOPICS: Government; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2008polls; battleground; electionpresident; mccainpalin; poll
This poll is conducted by two polling firms working together. One,the Lake Group, works almost exclusively for Democrats. The other is the Tarrance Group works almost exclusively for Republicans.

They each give their own analysis of the data.

This is the best assurance against any special sauce by either side. Therefore it is my favorite poll.

Usually they publish 3 polls every presidential cycle. One just before the election, one month out and two months out. I guess they will do a tracking poll now published every three days.

Let see what the polls look like after the debates and heading into the final leg of the race.

The closer it gets, the more the polling firms will want to get it right and call the race correctly.

Thanks for the link.

A non bias gold Standard that should be taken seriously, unlike the garbage polling of CBS, Hotline, and the Daily Kos.

Does ther ace baiter get to use a teleprompter for the debates or do they know what questions are in advance? I have a feeling the election is not going to be close-I know that is probably just me but I truly think the majority of sane people are scared to death of Obama & his hate fulled crew.

I clicked on the pdf to review the internals and this poll is really good news for McCain. His numbers are all trending way up. For example the latest polling date was 09/17 and on that date the Unaided Ballot preference for President has McCain 45.7% vs. Obama 38.6%! The 4 day average is McCain 42.3% vs Obama 40.5%. The trend is our friend.

I encourage everyone to take a look here...GOP leads the Dems on the generic Congressional question 41.8% to 39.7%.

Didn’t they have another poll just days ago that showed McCain up a couple more points? I thought this outfit didn’t do a running daily average. In any case as they often are quite accurate I am encouraged by these numbers. It is very close but we can hope the gap will grow. Just 8 days to the first debate.

I don’t think they did a tracking poll in 2004. I like what they’re reporting though!

I agree. According to Frank Luntz, pollster, he says the first debate suits Obama the best. Your standard stand up Debate.

But the second and third are badly suited for Obama. the second is Town Hall, and the third is sit down, were he cannot roam the stage.

No prompters, but hack DEM media moderators.

Yes is very encouraging because of their non bias, and the fact that they have a accurate reputation to try and keep.

“Battleground” is the name of the poll conducted by the two polling firms.

It does not refer to “battleground states.”

It polls the entire country.
