I don't know...
Just like I don't know how Jews pre WWII in Germany felt safe???
Jews in prewar Germany were very thoroughly assimilated and were full German citizens. They believed this status would protect them.
Plus, many of them were socialists and the two major socialist parties (Communist and Nazi) were vying for the same members. Jews preferred the Communists because they were more internationalist while the National Socialists were--well, nationalistic. But as one Jew remarked, "After all, we are Germans." They made the same mistake then that many American Jews are making today--political sympathies outweigh loyalty to heritage and faith.
It won't matter here unless Obama wins--then they will be shocked--shocked I say-- to find that Israel gets thrown over the side. Obama has already stated his intention to negotiate away the interests of the West and side with Islam. If anybody was paying attention and reading between the lines.
My guess is that most of these anti-Palin Jews don't much care about Israel one way or the other. After all, they are comfortable safe and prosperous here, and lip service to Israel is cheap.
