Just got back, will post pics later.

This event was a mess, I hate to criticize volunteer efforts but they’re going to have to do better than this. The “venue” here could not hold this many people, and it was hard to figure out where and what you were supposed to go/do.

We parked like 4-6 miles away from the Marketplace, we were told it was a 2 mile walk. I’m there with my 3 small girls, and thank God some lady was volunteering and picked us up 1/3-1/4 of the way. All the way up to it there were elderly people, fainting and dehydrated. At the marketplace, things got even worse.

The podium Palin was on was not high enough either, and hundreds of us were in a line with our tickets for nothing, because once the line got close to the “secure area” it dissolved into the mass of people.

The McCain/Palin campaign (or the Villages) gets an F- for the organization of this event. At least people were enthusiastic, but there were a lot of pissed off people there. Justifiably so.

Do you think they thought 60,000+ people were going to be there? Just saying

Please don’t blame her. She would be there as fast as she could I’m sure. Sorry it wasn’t properly planned.

Yikes! I doubt Team McCain expected this large of a crowd. They only handed out 20,000 tickets, but three times that many people showed up. So although it’s understandable that you are upset, I hope you can see how hard it would be to blame Team McCain if more people showed up than expected.

Hope this botched event doesn’t make you and the other disgruntled fans vote against McCain / Palin.

I hope someone from the campaign sees your post. She’s drawing stadium sized crowds and they’ll have to rethink their logistics. She even gets 10,000 at an airport fly-by.

I don't think the organizers of these events expect, or are even capable of handling, the enormous crowds she draws.

The RNC is going to have to start renting football stadiums to host her appearances.

Rock star.

Yours is the only negative account I've seen.

No doubt they were trying to accommodate everyone...

..you DID get picked up..(someone else mentioned this, so they probably had golf carts trolling to help people)

Events like this are generally messy....especially with that many people..

..soooooooo most folks need to plan ahead...w/water, snacks, even lightweight chairs or stroller for the kiddoes.

Small price to pay to be a part of history and put your thumb in Obama's eye.

McCain/Palin will be in my neck of the woods in Michigan on Oct. 10th. I plan on taking my 4 daughters, ages 5 to 15 to the event. I'm hoping for a large, enthusiastic turnout.

I am indeed sorry that some people were overwhelmed by the size of the crowd but you must realize that this is actually a huge positive sign in political terms.

NOBODY expects a VP candidate to draw 60,000 people to a political rally. It is unprecedented in American history.

Obama draws rock-star-size crowd at Sunrise rally
U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Delray Beach, said the gathering of more than 16,000 people at the BankAtlantic Center on Friday [May 23] was the "largest crowd that has ever assembled for a political rally in Florida."

You always want a venue that won’t contain the hold crowd.

Some times spontanaity is a good thing. Loosen up a little. I get a little nervous around people who think everything about life can or should be tied up in neat little packages.

Look at it another way. If they had laid on some huge venue and there were even two empty seats, the media would have spun the story that Gov. Palin played to a less than capacity crowd. Now they sure as heck can’t say that about FL can they?
