FL is a heavily contested battleground state, they should know it would draw heavy crowds.
Of course, it is hard to estimate this but that is why you hand out tickets for these events.
I was told by people there that they handed out way more tickets than the “secure area” would allow. Not to mention, the idea of tickets in the first place is to estimate the size, so I expected only ticketed people to go in. I had no idea about the venue.
I’m kind of surprised by the 60K number. It was packed, but people there were estimating first 20K+ and then 35K. But 60K, wow. It is hard to see this from the ground, but the lines were super long.
This “town square” format is not appropiate for these events, in Tampa she was going to go to the convention center, but that was cancelled. That would have been much better. When Obama came to central FL he also went to the St. Pete Times forum, they need to start booking places like this instead.
