Breaking: Obama Refuses to Delay the Debate

“In my mind, it’s more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy,” said the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama.

The statement was given in response to Senator John McCain’s surprising announcement that he had suspended his campaign to focus on the looming financial crisis in America by returning to Washington to help craft and pass emergency legislation.

McCain had invited his opponent to join him in returning to Washington to deal with the crisis. He also asked for a delay in the first debate of the General election which is scheduled for Friday evening in Mississippi.

Senator Obama refused, telling the media “This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess.” Earlier in the day, Obama had agreed to issue a joint statement with McCain concerning the crisis. However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCain’s move is some kind of political “ploy”.

Of course he will refuse. Come on! Obambi needs to battle the Palin effect; plus he doesn’t want to waste his time to vote ‘PRESENT’ again.

McCain has pinned Obama down. Obama cannot go to Washington without looking like a follower to McCain’s leadership and he cannot stay on the campaign trail without looking like he puts politics before country.

McCain and “COUNTRY FIRST” the clear winner here and a brilliant move.

I think McCain should suspend the campaign, go back to Washington to work on resolution for the crisis, leave 2 hrs. before the debate, debate for an hour, and fly back if there’s a vote. Obama will look like the sniveling whiner he is after saying McCain can’t do two things at once. While Obama has been cramming for this debate all week, and will be all day on Friday, McCain will look like he’s totally in control.

So, let me get this right. Obama is putting himself before the country..? What a turd. Guess he’ll enjoy his one-on-one with the teleprompter.

Obama bin Biden can't be bothered with trying to prevent a so called "national crisis" when there is a presidential campaign to be run.

After all, he can do more than one thnig at a time.........

Oh, and if you need him you can all him.....

It is a brilliant move only if it gets reported accurately by the MSM. The odds of that are similar to those of me winning the Ms. America competition.

Another Obama gaffe. The next President won't be inagurated until January 09.

What a freaking idiot.

Absolutely agree....and would add that THIS is who McCain really is. Our economy is in meltdown and he won’t sit this one out moving props around the country!

I’ve a renewed respect for John McCain.

Hm. Wouldn’t it be interesting to learn if that’s exactly what’s planned? :o) Either way though, McCain is shown as putting the good of our country first rather than politics and limelight.

McCain should ask his Vice Presidential candidate to do what Vice Presidents do,...Stand in for the president if required.

Check mate, Obama.

Of course the press will characterize this as a PR ploy intended to score political points AND avoid the formitable oratory skills of The One.

Yeah that is my initial reaction to this as well.

McCain is not afraid to make a bold move and take a risk.

But, by all rights, Generic Republican candidate should be down to Generic Democrat 10+ points.

God help me, but I agree with Obama here. The American people want to hear with the next President plans to do about this. This is McCain’s chance to shine and eliminate Obama’s one trump card, the economy.

This almost looks like he’s afraid of the debate.
