So 0 is living up to his nickname? How clever of Team Obama. Their other choice was fir him to look like a follower and stay in D. C. for the crisis.

Follow McCain’s lead, or stand on the stage by himself at Ole Miss. Now there’s a play on words.

Obama is making a stand at Ole Miss, debating nobody, while the real debate is happening in Old D. C.

“Trimming the hedges when the house is burning”

I like that. Sums up the situation well.

In the future they will write books about the brilliance of McCain's move.

Obama is in a box and there is, literally, no way out for him.

i predict it will go on without mccain...

the media would love to give obama the floor for 90 min. without any pressure.

i fear the MSM will get a lot of milage out of this... i think mccain should NOT cancel.

“That’s too bad. The media will spin this into more of “can’t do 2 things at once.”

Is that the same media that villified President Bush for taking to many “vacations” and not spending enough time in DC?

If you game this out, at every turn McCain's brilliant move has left Obama with a series of weak, defensive, best-of-a-bad-lot choices.

This is fabulous to watch.

I just saw a Fox News Alert saying that Barry was heading to Miss for the debates.

so he LEFT already? someone needs to say it:

photo op crisis management....

obama needs to be worried about more than winning the presidency, he is a phony and Americans have seen it.

Good move.

McCain has consistently put his country before his political ambitions and he clearly stated this when he said he would rather lose an election the risk losing a war.

With that in mind he needs to stand before the nation and say that he believes the debates are important and necessary in order for the citizens of America to be able to better know thew candidates and to assist them in making up their minds. However, America is in crisis at this time and as an elected official his duty is to try and do all he can to help the country through this dangerous time. The debate can be rescheduled easily but the crises will not wait. It is a matter of priority and in this case the priorities could not be any more clear.

...going to the debate is like trimming the hedges when the house is burning.

Geraldo has a lucid moment...

I don’t understand why they just don’t move up the VP debate to tonight? Do the Presidential one next thursday.

IF they get a deal, McCain should go. Is Obama in Miss right now? Or is he still hanging out at star bucks in the old Post office?

If he really wants to debate he'd ride to the sound of the guns (head for Washington).

O is totally out of his league in the DC meetings. And he knows it. It’s a better option (photo op) to head to Old Miss where he can showboat his celebrity. What’s left of it, that is.

...McCain’s team is planning to be ready to head for Mississippi on a moment’s notice if the plan goes through today.

Masterstroke!

Hey, Obama, you just sit there by the phone, and we'll call you if there's a debate.

Obama will be so rattled he'll have to glue his teeth in place.

The debate format is Foreign Policy, he would not have been able to change it to domestic policy without looking like a moron.

Fox just stated that McCain’s team is planning to be ready to head for Mississippi on a moment’s notice if the plan goes through today.

Guys, I'll go out on a limb here. McCain will show up tonight.

He will play like he's not showing up until the last possible nanosecond.

These machinations have guaranteed a MASSIVE tv audience, probably the biggest in history for any debate, and mccain will absolutely TOAST Obama in front of that audience.

This deal won’t get done today.

It’ll get done late Sunday.

Three more days with John McCain in the very front of everyone’s minds, hopes and prayers, as we wait for him to rescue our flagging economy.
