Why? If there’s nothing to do in Washington tonight, why shouldn’t he go?

The public perception is that we are in the midst of a crisis. By his own account, McCain was needed in Washington to do his job. And as far as I remember, he said that he was not going to go to the debate.

So here we are now, a week after McCain's announcement, apparently no closer to a resolution of this crisis. Yet now he thinks it's a good idea to go to the debate? What happened to the crisis?

John had to know that the Democrats would drag out a resolution indefinitely, but he should have postponed the re-commissioning of his campaign until early next week, after skipping the first debate.

NO, McCain never said that he would not go to the debate. He requested that it be postponed. His statement speaks for itself.
