The people who don't like Palin were not going to vote for McCain anyway. Palin's place on the ticket has energized the conservative base like nothing else would have.

And it's the conservative base that supplies the volunteers that McCain needs. Giving the conservative base a reason to ALL go to the polls in November will do more to ensure victory than anything else.

Despite the FR name, I’m pretty moderate and yet I love that Palin is on the ticket. Who is this Canadian journalist anyway? Who cares what she says.

McCain/PALIN ‘08

Politically ingenious move by McCain.

Vice President does not matter, Quayle was a laughingstock against Bentsen and it did not help Dukakis. People vote the top of the ticket, period. Palin is the exception that will get more votes and money than she will lose.

I like her judgment over Biden and Obummer. She is a maverick with values, the rest is study time. Screw these media quizzes, with gotcha questions like name all McCain’s legislative record. Google it Couric - ask a real question next time. This is a set-up, laughably transparent and voters are not buying the media hysteria.

People are expecting her to fail, so what. Biden is flippant only because he flip flops a lot. He was against the first Gulf war, when the whole world was with us, and then came out for the second after he read the polls. That guy is the biggest fraud, and not even close to being the intellectual he is purported to be. Too much talking head lippage is spent on these word games and not enough on their backgrounds, their moral philosophy, their own views and values. With that she will beat the panderer and the socialist.

We need term limits anyway. I want the old bums out and bring in new blood, every 8 years, every politician has to go home. Stop the corruption.

Just a note. I just met a friend of mine a short time ago. He was delivering a Tiffen motorcoach to Seattle. He stopped by with his wife and I gave him some peaches, nectarines and prunes.

He is/was a rabid Democrat. His wife is a rabid Republican. And they raised a family.

To my suprise, he is voting for McCain/Palin. Loves Palin. Couldn't wait to get home to watch her on T.V.

Completely untrue. I'm rather taken aback by the nascent cult of Palin, but my vote for McCain was never in question. I don't even really dislike Palin, I just don't get the adolation or why she is in any way deserving. IMHO, there were far better picks.
