If anyone in DC DARES vote for this, they will be removed, tared and feathered.

It’s unbelievable considering that Buffett now has the potential to profit enormously from the Feds buying all of the bad assets from the Goldman balance sheet...

The insurance provisions were intended as an alternative to the blank check framework.

Including the two together doesn’t help things.

I was reading the other day that Americans owe almost $1 trillion on their credit cards, and that much of this debt was packaged by the banks and sold off to “investors”, just like the mortgage debt.

So when the defaults begin to escalate, we’re going to have another crisis on our hands. This thing just keeps growing.

The most practical solution should be as follow:

1. Cut the Paulsen money bailout by half of the current amount.

2. Enact most if not all of the Republicans bailout alternative.

I rather vote for Barr. If Obama wins so be it if McCain votes the bailout.

1. A RINO as president will pass a tax increase. Look at CA under Wilson and Arnold. McClintock said it best.

2. Obama=Dinkins or Carter... That’s how you get Reagan or Guiliani

You should watch stone-faced Pelosi’s expression in slow motion as she made this announcement. When she said something to the effect of “protecting the taxpayers”, her left upper lip broke free from the Botox and snarled upward in the oddest movement. I backed up and replayed it several times just to be sure I was seeing it right. It was the most peculiar body language.

I once saw a documentary about facial expressions that showed when a subject was lying. When subjects were instructed to read a statement that contained a lie, one side of their face would contort briefly when viewed on a split screen in slow motion. Pelosi needs more Botox to paralyze her lip before saying that the lowly taxpayers are protected.

My father had what must have been a capacious liver and an insatiable appetite for Iron City; one day he took my sister and I to the big city (Clarksburg, Wv) to buy schoolbooks, gave us a five dollar bill and directed us to a restaurant while he transacted business down the street that always seemed to involve tip-boards.

I had a chicken salad sandwich and my sister had roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy. (If you could have seen us, you’d understand)

We each had a Coke and the nice lady with the funny looking paper hat on her head came by, cleared the table and wrote out a bunch of stuff on a little square of paper that had green around the border, white with black lines in the middle and printed prominently and boldly on the bottom it said, “Guest Check.”

My sister, being two years older than me and half as clever, asked me what that meant.

I told her it meant that we were guests and that the restaurant was just being nice to us so we walked up to the counter and presented the guest check to the waitress who promptly asked us for $3.26; in a quavering voice, I asked what it meant at the bottom where it was printed, “Guest Check,” she smiled and said that was the way they showed their appreciation for our business and asked where the three bucks was.

Sadly, I handed over the five dollar bill, my sister collected the change and we walked out the door and down the street where the honky-tonk music leaked out onto the street from the last door where we saw dad.

Just as we were about to cross the street, I looked down at my feet as I was unfamiliar with curbs and such and there before my eyes was a dented and battered Zippo lighter at the edge of the road.

I picked it up, opened the lid, struck the flint and Zip, nothing.

Just then our dad walked out onto the street, owly-eyed and squinting in that particular and peculiar way he always scowled when his breath smelled like corn that has rotted in the field - Look!, Look, I shouted and showed him my treasure and broke into a non-stop discourse on how a guest check doesn’t mean you were a guest at all, it only means that they’re real nice to you when you’ve got money to pay them and then I left all disappointed and, guess what? Right there on the street was this marvelous lighter that sparked even though it wouldn’t burn and it was my lucky day, after all.

As usual, my dad just shook his head and muttered again about everybody being born with only so many words alloted to him all his life and how mine would be used up before I could see over the hood of a Crosley and me not paying any attention at all, just flipping and sparking all the way back to the car where my dad found a “Guest Check” from the city that thanked him for using their parking meter.

Oh, by the way, we mailed the Zippo off to Bradford, Pennsylvania the next day and a month later we received a brand-new lighter in the mail.

Yes it is necessary.

You can call the DC numbers and they won’t answer or their mailboxes are full. How many folks have all the local numbers bookmarked? Congress is trying their darndest to pull a fast one in the middle of the night (that’s the only reason they EVER work late) and if it gets a few more calls in to smack em upside the head, then it’s worth it.

Everyone should be hammering those phones.

So when the defaults begin to escalate, we’re going to have another crisis on our hands. This thing just keeps growing.

They have already escalated to a point that nobody is talking about. These huge companies are gone! They have been recapitalized: Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Washington Mutual, etc.

Wachovia is about to go. National City. AMBAC Financal Group. And, I believe, eventually CitiGroup.

There is a rolling tide that is eating everything thown at it as an appetizer. It's worldwide, and I have no clue how they think they will stop it - without letting it have its vengeance.

I'm all ears for ideas...
