Posted on 09/29/2008 10:47:07 AM PDT by icwhatudo

Defying their leaders who had caved, House Republicans managed to defeat the 700 Billion Dollar bailout bill.

The bill would have used US tax payers money to bail out not only US banks but foreign banks as well.

The buying opportunity might be 5 years from now, if we are lucky.

Good. Nail Pelosi’s butt to the wall. She doesn’t have the support of the American people on this Bill, but now she’s lost the support of her caucus over it. Republicans need to hit quick, hard and link this straight to Obama, Democrats and Bush.

I am wondering if things can get fixed, now that this monstrosity has failed.

The Heritage Foundation and Tom Coburn think some action is necessary...and those are conservatives I think are staunch and strong.

So hopefully the conservatives in Congress can get some free market principles implemented, and some regulations removed...

Nancy Pelosi screwed the pooch by trying to blame this mess on Republicans and then expecting the Republicans to vote "yes" on it. She is an incompetent idiot!!

All ways to fight cancer. They kill the cancer cells at the same time they are killing the normal cells. The “hope” is that all the cancer cells die before the patient does.

Without the treatment the patient dies, With the treatment there is a chance the patient will live.

I would like you all to remember your Wohoooo’s six months from now when 10 million people are out of work because the economic engine of the US seized up and companies could no longer get working capital.

The Road to Serfdom is paved with full employment.

“The private sector solution to this mess is for Congress to leave it the heck alone and let those invovled deal with it. “

I think there is a proper role for the govt in this. not to this extent, but some creative programs, stimulus packages, waiving capital gains, I don’t know... but there are smarter people than me who can figure all that out!

I am hoping that is what McCain has been involved in the past 48 hours while Obama has been out shooting off his big mouth.

Well, I understand the fear. On the other hand, the Japanese propped up their failing banks for ten years and their economy went nowhwere.

Maybe it’s better we let WaMu, Wachovia, Bear, etc. all go down and clear the decks so we can rebuild correctly. Set a tone for all bankers that you have to go back to solid conservative banking and lending principles. Or else you go out of business.

I don’t want Washington doling out bailout loans to the banks of their choice.

As a small business owner, when those who did not manage their money properly fail, I will gladly have the capital to buy them and run them myself.
That’s the way the system works.
If a business is run hand to mouth, they deserve to fail. A business should have 3 months operating capital or not operate at all. It’s so old fashioned, but it always works.

I’m not very savvy at posting links into my FR responses, but my congressman, Darrell Issa, had an interesting-sounding proposal. Here is the link (you may have to cut and paste it into your browner):

http://issa.house.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=News.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=a5619b9b-19b9-b4b1-1201-970709a07318

Any freeper please take a look and give me your opinion. It sounded good to me.
