Its nice that some people on FR get it even if the rest of the nation doesn't. Those who look to Govt. or the news for advice on financial freedom will invariably do the opposite of what they should.

When the housing market turns down everyone wants to sell their homes. Anyone with brains knows now is the time to buy. I'll be buying a home soon as I recently moved for a new job. The "housing market" is great.
We may sell our house when the market comes back but we aren’t going to sell now. We have always wanted a small log house in the country with a little land for a garden and raise some chickens and hogs. I have always wanted to start preserving some food and living off the land. Our house is paid for so we don’t need to sell now. We can wait.
