So just calm down - as I said, the book thing is a non-issue compared to the crap she pulled in 2004 against Cheney.

Wow - So let me get this straight - and trust me, I'm old enough to remember the Cheney/Edwards debate in 2004. But I am astounded that you think the book is a non issue compared to what happened four years ago: During a vice-presidential candidate debate Ifill moderated in 2004 – when Democrat John Edwards attacked Republican Dick Cheney’s former employer, Halliburton – the vice president said, “I can respond, Gwen, but it’s going to take more than 30 seconds.” And Ifill said, "Well, that’s all you’ve got," she told Cheney.

Was Ifill bitchy and rude to Cheney? You bet she was. I agree with you that McCain should have never agreed to her as a moderator in the first place. Sometimes it's hard to believe that McCain was actually in the military since he's constantly taking a feather to a gun fight. But make no mistake, Ifill's "non-actions" are clearly a conflict of interest.

Should the news of Ifills book have been noticed by anyone in the Republican party sooner? You bet, but it wasn't. Again, I attribute it to news overload - and the fact that conservatives tend to ignore AP articles because of their blatant bias. But that doesn't excuse Ifill for keeping mum - at least for the likelihood of a perceived conflict of interest. At the very least, she should have made sure the Debate Commission AND the McCain campaign knew about her book. If she had nothing to hide, why was she NOT candid and up front?

You and I will just have to agree to disagree when it comes to which incident is worse. To me, Ifill's bitchy and flippant remark to Cheney had zero implications on the election of 2004. Ifill has two very good incentives to submarine Palin - She is an Obama supporter and will enjoy counting her money from book sales if he wins. But more importantly, she is in a position to make a huge difference in this election and after she has shown everyone who she really is, why in the hell should ANY of us trust her?

You made no mention of the analogy in the link I provided in my last post to you. I'm sick of hypocrits and double standards and want this wrong-doing exposed to the masses.

I'm saying that she's shown a prejudice long before now - her attitude towards Cheney during the debate, and comments made after the debate, and that is more important.

Agreed - and there was a clip of McCain on Fox tonight saying that they weren't bothered by the book and they weren't afraid.

I honestly don't think they are putting on a front - I think McCain is getting a lot of bad advice from members of his campaign or he's stubborn, but he really seems to think that Palin can handle anything thrown at her. I'm trusting his judgment, but I'm concerned. The only good thing is that for every gaffe that Palin has made, Biden has made one as well (although they don't get covered as much).

I see the point of the analogy you were talking about, but at this point...we have to support McCain - Lord help us, we're stuck with him, and the alternative is much worse.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what you and I and everybody else in this thread thinks - this isn't about us, we'll vote regardless of what happens in the debates. This is about the undecideds.
