Palin's Failin' (Noonan Barf Alert)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/17/08 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 10/16/2008 10:11:33 PM PDT by acsuc99

But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office. She is a person of great ambition, but the question remains: What is the purpose of the ambition? She wants to rise, but what for? For seven weeks I've listened to her, trying to understand if she is Bushian or Reaganite—a spender, to speak briefly, whose political decisions seem untethered to a political philosophy, and whose foreign policy is shaped by a certain emotionalism, or a conservative whose principles are rooted in philosophy, and whose foreign policy leans more toward what might be called romantic realism, and that is speak truth, know America, be America, move diplomatically, respect public opinion, and move within an awareness and appreciation of reality. But it's unclear whether she is Bushian or Reaganite. She doesn't think aloud. She just . . . says things. Her supporters accuse her critics of snobbery: Maybe she's not a big "egghead" but she has brilliant instincts and inner toughness. But what instincts? "I'm Joe Six-Pack"? She does not speak seriously but attempts to excite sensation—"palling around with terrorists." If the Ayers case is a serious issue, treat it seriously. She is not as thoughtful or persuasive as Joe the Plumber, who in an extended cable interview Thursday made a better case for the Republican ticket than the Republican ticket has made. In the past two weeks she has spent her time throwing out tinny lines to crowds she doesn't, really, understand.

You know Sarah is choking on the Global Warming Hoax. We can only hope when they get in they pull the plug on that deal.

We are all worried about taxes, hell Global Warming is a classic Cloward Piven Strategy if there ever was one. Raise income taxes and crush business with BS carbon taxes +++++.

Obama wants what Chavez has Government control of natural resources and the means of production,

Peggy Noonan — please keep writing.
You apparently want attention so badly that you’ll write anything.

Keep writing — you’re writing yourself out of the job market.
That’s sad, but I guess that’s the way you want it.

You give her way too much consideration. The woman is simply a dried up old bitch. She has surrendered her soul.

thats what i think Sarah is having a hard time with in these interviews....from day 1, shes had to follow the Mccain line, half of which probably makes her want to gag.

“Sarah Palin’s record and policy positions are an open book, I can tell you her motivations they are well known.”

I had that discussion with my elderly mom that was wary that Palin didn’t have enough experience. I told my mom that what tells me the most about Sarah is her values. Conservative values. Family values. Christian values. Decision making based on those fundamentals will be the correct ones, and that is the best experience you can have.

I then went on to tell my mom about Sarah getting a pipeline started that has been talked about since 1974. About defeating a former governor and an incumbent governor in an election. 85% of Alaskans love her (she must be doing something right). Etc.

I think Noonan is jealous. Just because a woman is smart and a good writer doesn't mean that the right woman can't make her feel a little inadequate. I think Palin does that to Noonan.

Ms. Noonan,

The only possible reason for this critique of Sarah before the election, is a belief on your part that she is so flawed, that an Obama presidency would be better for the country.

If you do not see this, you are stupid. If you see it, you are dangerously stupid.

Peggy has turned into such a c-word.

i have come to loathe these beltway psuedo conservatives

Barnes, Chucky, Billie.....Parker....Will

EFF the whole bunch.

We got plenty of stand up conservative folks without their sorry “used to write for the New Republic Neo Con asses”

Brit....I give him a pass, he’s sorta in ahard place.

and hail Greta while we’re at it.

Sarah Palin’s record and policy positions are an open book, I can tell you her motivations they are well known.

Truth be told, as a governor, she has more real leadership experience than Obama/Biden/McCain combined. There's a reason why sitting and past Senators are not often elected to President, but Governors are.
