The Transformative Pedagogy Of Bill Ayers
IBD Editorials ^ | October 21, 2008 | Phyllis Schlafly

Will William Ayers be secretary of education in a Barack Obama administration? All parents should ponder that possibility before making their choice for president on Nov. 4.

After all, Ayers is a friend of Obama, and professor Ayers' expertise is training teachers and developing public school curriculum. That's been his mission since he gave up planting bombs in government buildings (including the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon) and assaulting police officers.

Ayers brashly admitted that he was "guilty as hell" in planting bombs in the 1970s, and that he has no regrets and feels that he and his Weather Underground associates "didn't do enough."

After successfully avoiding trial and prison because of legal technicalities, he picked up his Ph.D. at Columbia Teachers College for a second career, landing a tenured job as distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

From Investor's Business Daily (IBD), August 27, 2008:

"Ayers, now a tenured distinguished professor of education at UIC, works to educate teachers in socialist revolutionary ideology, urging that it be passed on to impressionable students.

One of Ayer's descriptions for a course called 'Improving Learning Environments' says prospective K-12 teachers need to 'be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and ... be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, teaching for social justice and liberation.'

The Annenberg papers are quite extensive — 132 boxes containing 947 file folders with 70 linear feet of material. They undoubtedly contain more surprises regarding Obama's relationship with Ayers, one of many relationships Obama has sought to hide."

Good article. It points out the contempt for the independent views of teachers that they are forced to read and implement Ayers Marxist propaganda. The P.C. roots of the education system is becoming more transparent. I thought that Radical Chic was an amusing relic of the past, but it seems to be back in Vogue.

"After successfully avoiding trial and prison because of legal technicalities, he [Bill Ayers] picked up his Ph.D. at Columbia Teachers College..."

"Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983, and moved to Chicago in 1985 to work for a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment. In 1991, Obama graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review."

Actually, Columbia is all over that area.

According to some reports I read, the explosives that accidentally went off in the townhouse and killed three Weathermen terrorists, including Bill Ayers' girlfriend at the time, was meant both for Fort Dix, NJ AND the library at Columbia U.

"Guilty as hell, free as a bird; what a great country". (William Ayers)

If I could get/take ***the shot***; I'd do it, dammit! So, let me fix that bullshit quote.

"Guilty as hell, free as a bird, dead as a bug; what a great country". Yep Billy-Bob Asswipe; you're so right, you subhuman, murderous terrorist POS!

That's *final payback* for what damage you did/are doing to America, you filth/garbage/trash/scum!

I was 13 years old when the ruckus occurred at the dem convention in Chicago. This buttwipe was part of what was called 'the new left'. His dad was rolling in dough and knew all of the important people. A typical example of the bourgeois counterculture. Spoiled, effete, nihilistic brats, no one took them as seriously as they seemed to take themselves. Now, forty years later, I'm pissed to see this same name back in the news, this time as the establishment. Who was it, Gramsci, who wrote of that 'long march through the institutions'? It looks as though the march is over, and it's time for them to take control. Is it time for us to wake up yet? Don't we as a People have some say about this? This ain't a communist society, never was and never will be. How much insult as a free nation are we willing to take? This election will tell.

From American Thinker, September 16, 2008
Article: Obama's Foul Weather Friends
By Scott Swett and Roger Canfield

"As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who [Bernardine] Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' He said, 'I realized...America was an evil... and that I was... living inside the belly of the beast...' "

Why would the Weathermen take out Low or Butler? That's pissing in your water supply.
I could see the logic of Pupin Hall, the birthplace of the Manhattan Project.

PS. You might appreciate the map of Columbia's Morningside Height's Campus, which will give you an idea of just how close it is to Bank Street School.
Of course, it is also the grounds for the only victory in the defense of New York during the American Revolution, the Battle of Harlem Heights.
The decay of this university, renamed after the poetic name and feminine/pantheistic personification of the US is often heartbreaking.

Who knows what lurks in the minds of demented people like this.

"Cathy Wilkerson opens her memoir literally flying through the air inside her parent’s Greenwich Village townhouse—massive dynamite explosions are ripping through its four floors. Just a few seconds earlier on that March morning in 1970, she’d been blithely ironing bedsheets, tidying up before her parents returned home from their Caribbean vacation. It’s as if the evidence she was trying to hide was merely the detritus of a raucous kegger, and not the presence of her Weather Underground collective, busy making bombs intended for a U.S. Army officers’ dance at New Jersey’s Fort Dix as well as for Columbia University’s Low Library."

Those freaks really must have hated the administration. President Cordier was an accommodating liberal, but there is no accounting for the Weathermen. I'll have to ping some other CU Freepers.
Low Library, or rather Low Memorial Library is the home of the administration and is an architectural landmark.
