Palin says election result rests in God's hands

DENVER (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin describes herself as a "hard-core pro-lifer" and expresses confidence that in spite of disheartening polls, "putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4."

In an interview with evangelical leader James Dobson that aired Wednesday, Palin said she thought Republican presidential candidate John McCain would implement the GOP platform if elected—"I do, from the bottom of my heart"—but McCain doesn't support the platform on three issues important to evangelicals: abortion, gay marriage and embryonic stem cell research.

The platform calls for a constitutional ban on gay marriage, an issue McCain says should be left to individual states. Similarly, the platform seeks a constitutional ban on all abortions; again, McCain supports allowing states to decide the question. McCain supports research using embryonic stem cells, which the platform opposes.

Palin called it a "strong platform" and told Dobson, "They are there, they are solid, we stand on them and, again, I believe that it is the right agenda for the country at this time."

The Alaska governor talked by phone with Dobson for about 20 minutes Monday while she was in Colorado campaigning. Dobson's Focus on the Family radio program aired the interview Wednesday.

Dobson asked whether Palin was discouraged by polls showing the GOP ticket behind.

"To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder," Palin said. "And it also strengthens my faith, because I'm going to know, at the end of the day, putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4. So I'm not discouraged at all."

Palin has not focused on her faith on the campaign trail, but it clearly has energized evangelical leaders like Dobson, whose radio show reaches an estimated 1.5 million Americans daily.

Dobson has come around to supporting the McCain-Palin ticket after previously saying he could not in good conscience vote for McCain. He endorsed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee late in the primaries.

Palin thanked Dobson and supporters for their prayers and—when Dobson inquired about the importance of faith in her life—said: "It is my foundation, yes, my Christian faith is."

She also used terms like "prayer warrior" and "intercession"—words that might be unknown to the average listener but are common vocabulary in Pentecostal Christianity. Palin spent 20 years in a Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church, but she usually refers to her faith generically as Christian, not even evangelical.

"It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated," Palin told Dobson. "And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation."

She continued: "When we hear along the rope lines that people are interceding for us and praying for us, it's our reminder to do the same, to put this all in God's hands, to seek his perfect will for this nation, and to of course seek his wisdom and guidance in putting this nation back on the right track."

Describing herself as a "hard-core pro-lifer," Palin said the birth of a son with Down syndrome was "this opportunity for me to really be walking the walk and not just talking the talk. There's purpose in this also and for a greater good to be met there."

Palin said the campaign had to have faith that its message will be heard "minus the filter of the mainstream media."

"That filter has to be erased," she said. "So we have to have faith in the wisdom of the people that they'll understand what our message is. But even bigger that then, I have to have that faith that God is going to help us get that message out there."

From one ‘Ruby’ to another; Sarah Palin gets it! :)

Proverbs 31:10-31(NIV)

10 [a] A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

In case anyone missed it:

Proverbs 10:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Remember the verse in that great old hymn, “This is My Father's World” that starts out:

This is my Father's world,
and let me ne’er forget,
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet!

Amen!

And I would also hasten to remind us of another great old hymn, “This World Is Not My Home”!

I can only pray that God will continue to hear the prayers of His people who know what America is, and how it came to be what it is!

I wrote Jim Dobson & a hundred other influential pastors to spread the word, to declare Oct 26th, Sunday, as a National Day of prayer and have a thread here days earlier.

Please ask your Pastor to participate!
Below is my original letter, help fax, email to as many Christians & Churches! Thanks ahead, my brethren!

Dear Pastors/Christian leaders:

We all sense that this will be the most crucial Election in modern times! We need a man who will lead us through the worst financial storm and keep us out of a Depression!
We need a man who will bring about positive reform rather than a socialist change! We need divine intervention and a miracle in light of such a close race

Will your church participate by having your pastor or designated prayer warrior lead your congregation in prayer at your church?

Could you help notify as many pastors as possible or send a mailer to more churches, to do the same! It will be up to the individual church whether they wish to add ”fasting”.
Below would be a prayer, which expresses my heart’s cry:
“Oh God who watches America through her darkest days, if there’s ever a time we need you, it is NOW! Because of our sins, greed and corruption, we have reaped what we have sown in this ever widening credit crises, even global crises! Forgive us of our corporate and individual sins as we throw ourselves at your mercies, pleading you to preserve and save this Republic. You have enabled America to survive the Depression, may you guide us through perilous times!
We sense that this is ultimately a spiritual battle for the soul and future of America, and Satan is all out like a roaring lion, to destroy what little is left behind. We beg you to rebuke Satan, and to destroy the plan of those who seek to tear down this nation, our Constitution, our religious liberty and the traditional family! Behold our rights to preach against sins and abomination is at stake! Our security from greater terrorist attacks is in jeopardy!

May you awaken your church, to rise up, to be an informed citizenry, and to do our duty as salt and light. Grant spiritual discernment as we go to the polls. Keep us from being misled and deceived by empty promises and smooth talk. We pray for divine intervention in the midst of the worst nationwide voter frauds May you preserve this once great republic, from descending deeper and deeper into bankruptcy and socialism!

Help all the Bible-believing Churches to turn out the vote this November!

We implore you in Christ’s holy Name, Amen!”

My parents taught me from childhood that if you want something then you pray for it and do everything in your power to make it happen. If it’s God’s will, there will be no stopping it. If if it’s not God’s will, then you’re better off without it.

After a lifetime of watching it work it turns out they were pretty darned smart!

Even though the man’s eyesight is keen, I would still put some poll sitters out there, you know, just in case he gets up for a bathroom break or something.

I was just taking my dog for a walk and talking to the Lord and said, “God, if Obama gets elected, I will see it as a sign that You are very close to wrapping things up in this Satan-occupied world.”

We shall see.

I believe Obama/Biden will absolutely abandon Israel.
But God has promised to come to Israel’s aide, so it could, indeed, be very close if Obama steals the election.

Thanks for sharing.

I have the same prayers. My son is also in the Air Force and I don’t want BO to be the Commander in Chief.

I feel such a sense of doom and am praying that God will give me the sense of peace that you have.

He is, ultimately, in control. If it’s His plan, then so be it and may He give us the strength to do His will in the times to come.

Thanks for posting this article.

“Palin said the campaign had to have faith that its message will be heard “minus the filter of the mainstream media.”

Which is the answer to the question: “Why is McCain/Palin campaigning in ‘x’ ?

“So we have to have faith in the wisdom of the people that they’ll understand what our message is. “

Comparison: Sarah Palin appeals to the wisdom of the people.

Obama appeals to their ignorance.

“I believe this to be in error.”

This came from AP. You will not argue with AP. You are just worried about details and facts, which are not the issue right now.

: )

All forms of media (including the internet) are trying to prove to the ONE they are the key to his success.

There is nothing they will not do, to be the ONE for the ONE.

I’m Baptist and use terms like “prayer warrior” and “intercession” all the time

Ditto (I’m Presbyterian). Pretty middle of the road Protestant terminology.

I'm conservative Evangelical Congregrational, and that is the normal term for praying!

I’m in the Presbyterian Church in America, PCA, and we ARE prayer warriors.
That’s not just a Church of God or Assembly of God phrase.
And intercession is what we all do when we pray diligently.

Those are Christian expressions. ;-)

God bless America!!!

Agree whole heartedly. In our morning worship service we have been going through the book of James and it is both challenging and encouraging.

Consider it pure joy my brothers when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
James 1:2-4

James wastes little time and gets right to the point. We shouldn’t be surprised that we face trials of many kinds the author doesn’t say “if you face trials of many kinds” but rather states the fact that trials will come. God work everything together for the good of those who Love him. These trials are for our good no matter how difficult. They are meant to guide us on the path of righteousness. There are so many passages and promises that are precious to us as believers that even though we live in a crazy world, an unknown future ahead, uncertain times. One thing we can be certain is that nothing is unknown to God and the future to come is God’s future, in God’s timing, and in accordance with his good and perfect will.

God Bless Sarah Palin an all those in the public eye who are not afraid to stand up and speak a word for God and his Glory. It’s humbling when I think of the times I’ve kept my mouth shut and I didn’t have a mob waiting to lynch me the moment I dare mention God’s name with reverence instead of as a cheap curse word. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and say what she said. Much more courage than some queer proclaiming they are gay and the world welcoming them with open arms and applauding them for their “courage.”

God is my Commander in Chief.
