>> Slavery was rampant World Wide, still is in Africa, maybe you should give a little credit to the US for abolishing it.
You’ve read into my statement things I simply did not say. I said that slavery was an abomination before God. Nowhere did I absolve the world, nor did I deny the US credit for its abolishment. In fact, my argument was that we are an exceptional nation because we have overcome such problems — the abolishment of slavery is simply further evidence to prove my point.
>> Universal service that was present after WW II called for all military to take an oath, I will leave it to you to search that out.
Most people have taken no such oath. This is not a problem with the “general population”.
>> Many in our Government abandoned God for their own purposes, but the general population had not, until recently.
Sin has been prevalent in humanity for eternity, and will be until Kingdom come. One could argue that the general population, not the government, was at fault for the slave trade.
I am unconvinced that sin and Godlessness is any more prevalent now than at any other time. Perhaps more people are expressly non-religious ... but hedonism and moral weakness have been present in the general population for quite some time.

If you are interested, the Bible expounds on this theme to the extreme, but I don't want to lead this conversation there unless you want to go there.
