I don't doubt, however, that Barack Obama is presently a US citizen. He carries a US passport.
He may have re-acquired his citizenship. Perhaps he never lost it to begin with. I'm sure the March raid on Obama's passport file had something to do with this.
His current citizenship is not at issue. What's at issue is, if you are "born in the USA" can you EVER lose or surrender "natural-born" status?

I do not think Mr. Berg would be wasting his time on this if he thought it was a non-issue. The mother’s age supposedly is the issue. She was 17 which makes it a problem for Obama and he is not a citizen. If she had been 18 then he supposedly would be fine.

If one is born a U.S. citizen whether born abroad or withing the U.S., one cannot “lose” one’s U.S. citizenship.

But yes, one can renounce one’s U.S. citizenship (but pay U.S. taxes for ten years after that).
