I think you are correct that power corrupts. I keep remember Don Nickles the Senator from Oklahoma who was in the Senate for years. Straight shooter and #2 in the Senate. Lott promised to step aside and let Nickles be elected but then undermined him to stay in power with cronies. The Senate would have been a much different place with Nickles in charge. Lott wouldn’t even take him along in budget negotiations with Clinton.
Takes a strong individual not to let power corrupt and why the Washington elite have turned on McCain/Palin because they are scared to death what is going to happen when they get in office.
Wouldn’t trust most of the Bush people that have flocked to McCain since the Convention. Time for them to not be around the WH and bring in a group of people that want to fight the Washington corruption instead of maintain the status quo.
I am hoping Rudy takes the Attorney General because ACORN would be right in the center of the bullseye!
The story may be unfounded, but I think it excites folks who are pro-Palin but anti-McCain.
The purpose of these stories is to divide McCain’s base and sew discontent. They also want to damage Palin for the future.
I would grant you that the libs in the press have it backwards and have got their got their heads so far up the fannies that they don’t realize it will agitate the base, which is good. However, the folks that they are trying to peel off the ticket are not folks like you and I. They are going after the McCain independents ~ and we’ll need them, too.
I admit to not having had a lot of love for McCain in the past, but at this point I believe we ought to focus simply on being anti-Obama. Let’s also give the guy just a little credit for selecting such an awesome running mate.
