DEVELOPING: U.S. military helicopters attacked an area along Syria's border with Iraq Sunday, causing casualties, Syrian state TV and witnesses said.
The television report quoted unnamed Syrian officials and said the area is near the Syrian border town of Abu Kamal. It gave no other details.
Local residents told The Associated Press by telephone that two helicopters carrying U.S. soldiers raided a farm in Hwijeh village, 10 miles inside Syria's border, killing seven people and wounding five others. One of the witnesses said five of the dead were from a single family.

GREAT NEWS FOR McCAIN.
Another war or international crisis will ensure the election of the McCain/Palin ticket. Let us hope this is followed by a US declaration of war on Iran combined with a simultaneous attack by US/Israeli forces on Irananian nuclear sites.
This aint good.
FEC gathering evidence from 0bama donors?
Why? Sounds okay to me.
This is war, not politics. if it is true, then I am sure the men at the pentagon or on the ground were considering who this would help to get in the white house, and frankly it is ugly to even contemplate in those terms... IMHO
Think we found Osama?
One can only hope, but I doubt it. Not even sure this is true yet.
Do you notice how foolish your comment is? Sorry but hoping for an international crisis or war so someone get’s elected is just wrong. Yes, we need to deal decisively with our enemies, and McCain and Palin are the right ones to do that, but it’s just fodder for the libs who take such comments as bait that the right is creating wars to win elections.
Yes, and you know it was an innocent “family.” We always go after innocent “families” according to Islamic media.
Escalation of conflict in the ME doesn’t help win this election.
I'm sure there are folks (of various nationalities) on the the Syrian side of the border who needed a reminder of what American firepower is capable of... if our commanders asked to do this, then they surely did so for the best possible reasons (to protect GIs and Iraqi patriots)... and there may be some “good” in this in this sense...
As for the politics of this — let's be very careful — why give the crazy left a quote on this site to be used against us?
Let's just pray for our troops and for a commander and chief who loves them and respects them as much as we do...
Please tell me they got Assaud between the eyes.
Your post sounds good but didn’t someone just say we would re establish diplomacy with Iran? I would like to see them (Syria and Iran) taken out also - save for the “hotties” one claimed were there.
I am reading conflicting reports.
