Sarah Palin puts her own blue jeans back on
The Australian ^ | 10/27/2008

Vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin announced yesterdayshe would forgo the expensive outfits purchased by the Republican Party for her campaign appearances and from now on would appear on the stump wearing her own Alaska-bought clothes.

Ms Palin said she would eschew clothing that was not hers, following a campaign kerfuffle over high-priced garb purchased by the campaign for her public outings.

"Those clothes are not my property, just like the lighting and the staging and everything else the RNC (Republican National Committee) purchased," Ms Palin said.

"I'm not taking them with me. I'm back to wearing my own clothes from my favourite consignment (second-hand) shop in Anchorage, Alaska," she said, adding that she initially had hoped to "ignore this wardrobe thing", but instead had decided to deal with it head on.

To emphasise her point, she wore jeans at an event in Asheville, North Carolina, yesterday.

Ms Palin talked about her accessories yesterday - earrings that were a gift from her husband's Yup'ik Eskimo mother, and "a $35 wedding ring from Hawaii that I bought myself because, with my ring, I always thought: it's not what it's made of; it's what it represents".

Good. No reason not to wear her own clothes.

The RNC staffer who bought the clothes should be hung out to dry. Along with the rest of them who tried to turn her into something she's not.

Her instincts are spot on. She’s the same person through and through...absolutely wonderful.

lol... RNC staffer... who runs the RNC... that staffer did NOT go out there on their own and purchase these clothes...

Truly amazing what gets under the skin of some people. Once again Sarah demonstrates who she is and what she is about.

I love Sarah - regardless of the clothes.

Turn her into something she is not? The campaign-bought clothes were beautiful, like Sarah. They didn’t change Sarah; they complimented her.

Why shouldn’t Sarah have the same thing every candidate has? Obama has a campaign wardrobe of custom-mdae suits.

she should be herself. Absolutely.
but if someone has the $ I don’t think she should feel guilty for spending it on herself. This is after all one of the most important positions in the world and you need to look the part.
Obama on the other hand gets off the hook for his millions of dollars and caviar dinners

So much for not caring what the MSM says about her.

She should have said "I'll dump these when Biden and Obama show proof they pay for all their own rags with their own cash."

Regarding what the media has tried to do to Sarah; I don’t even know what to do with the anger I feel. We have just never seen anything like this from the left and their friends in the media before. Well we got a warm up watching what hey did to the Clintons. I guess if the expected happens next week we hope she runs in 2012 and kicks his ass.

When the McCain administration takes office, I have a feeling the VP is going to take on personnel matters for a while.

Sarah is such a breath of fresh air on the political scene. She is her own person, with true moral values who isn’t beholden to anyone. No wonder the left and some on the right are scared shi-less of her.

Amazing, indeed. I am always disturbed when our side responds to any form of envy. Why shouldn't Sarah and her family have a special campaign wardrobe just like every other national candidate?

Turn her into something she is not?

Yup. In case you hadn't noticed, there was a distinct difference in her attitude starting about 2 weeks after the convention up until about 1-1/2 weeks ago. She was being "managed." Starting about 1-1/2 weeks ago (as best I noticed, when she ditched her aides and went and started answering ad-hoc questions from media ropelines is when it started)

The campaign-bought clothes were beautiful, like Sarah. They didn’t change Sarah; they complimented her.

She's gorgeous regardless of the clothes. Herself is all-American. She doesn't NEED Neiman-Marcus.

Why shouldn’t Sarah have the same thing every candidate has? Obama has a campaign wardrobe of custom-mdae suits.

And you want her to be like Øbama?

I got your wish. She was fantastic. Remember Rush’s rules of wisdom. Feminist only want ugly women to succeed. That’s why they “hate her”. The “blue bloods” hate her because they don’t want to run against her in 4 years.

excuse me . . . Wearing jeans at night in a much colder North Carolina - probably a day into evening wardrobe descison . . . maybe maybe maybe?

I watched the events Sunday online. I heard her joke about the sexist wardrobe scrutiny, and the fact that the clothes were props. *I* didn’t hear her say that she was giving into to the bozos’ attacks - (oh my oh my they’re so right- what do we doooo?). Foolishness. I *heard* her say, after the campaign, the clothes are going back. Did you?

Markomalley - dressing well does not make her something she’s not. You have been sucked into the Obama black hole. Get real.

Liberals are well versed in the base of human nature and they are experts in using that to their advantage. The bigger question is why did those running the RNC NOT have a clue how this clothes issue would be used against them. We have a nation with far toooo many minds that still use what they learned at two years old to get their own way.

Once again Sarah stands tall and does not allow the pettiness of small minds to cause her to stumble.
