Medved mentions the loathesome Mark Foley.

All should be aware that Foley has endorsed Obama.

Good column. I’m cautiously upbeat again, and it’s nice to see the pundits coming around as well. The FoxNews gang was driving me nuts last week with their total negativity. I sense a change though.

I don’t care how Obama loses. As long as he loses the election fair and square.

We can sort the rest out over the next 4 years.

Two years ago many conservatives never voted because the immigration fiasco and how they were disgusted with the do nothing republican congress. It cost the house and senate.

The conservatives have awoken now and I believe there will be some surprises in congressional races too. Many of these polls are extrapolating numbers from 2006 turnout and oversampling democrats to boot.

I am even seeing many pro McCain/Palin yardsigns here in Oregon something that was missing 4 years ago with W.

I think the financial crisis did swamp the issue spectrum with the economy. You can see Obama’s numbers rise with those who chose the economy as their number one issue as the numbers have risen.

However, even though the stock market has remained volatile, it seems to have hit a bottom and the economy is dying down as an issue.

Not only that, McCain did a pretty good job changing the narrative of the race from the financial crisis, to the economy policies of Barack Obama; specifically taxes and Joe the plumber.

I think if McCain pulls this off, it’ll be studied in poli sci classes for ages to come. He changed the issue spectrum from the economy to those of values; because social conservatives in America have always believed in income redistribution as theft and that charity begins at home and not with the government.

It put him back on the Republican’s home turf and the message has stuck.

I am praying it is enough.

Likewise, there are nowhere near the amount of Obama signs and bumper stickers as there were Kerry signs/stickers here in CA.

I don’t think Obama is generating as much excitement as folks think.

This election will be close, but when folks close the curtain and check their gut, I think they will punch for McCain.

Voted by mail in LA CA: Sarah Palin and, uh, ...the other guy.

Also voted the straight Tom McClintock ticket on the issues, as I found as they were published.

mcCain =pro life

Hussein= Pro-choice

if mccain wins it proves their are enough good people left to save america and try to turn it back right

If hussein wins then it proves that america has some punishment on the way and will continue in the leftward spiral

I like it when Social Conservatives are lumped together as a singular political group. It obscures the enemy’s view of the whole forest.

In your darker scenario, is the prescription also the punishment, or are you thinking external judgment or, d.v., chastisement?
