Since you have been there, I have to ask. When a homosexual kills a homosexual in this manner, does it rate classification as a "hate crime", or is that special designation only reserved for heterosexuals?
In my office we never went for the “hate crime” thing. Crime was crime.
It's not automatically a hate crime just because the victim falls into a certain category. The hate crime classification (actually, hate crimes aren't a separate crime, they just typically add to the sentence for some other crime) only comes into play if you kill someone becuase they're white, or gay or whatever.
This was a pretty typical murder by someone who was dumped by a lover. Even if the murderer had not killed herself, she would probably just be charged with regular murder, without a bias crime classification.
