11/3/2008 12:00:00 PM - Dubuque , IA

Road to Victory Rally in Dubuque, IA

Please join Governor Sarah Palin for a Road to Victory Rally in Dubuque, IA on Monday November 3rd.

--------------------

"With only days left before voters head to the polls to choose the next president, both major-party candidates are still spending time and money in Iowa.

-snip- Obama will campaign in Des Moines today.

This has led more than one observer to wonder if the candidates know something that public polling has not told the rest of us. Obama has had an advantage in every poll of Iowa voters, most by large margins. Both campaigns must think Iowa is still neck and neck, or else why spend so much time here?"

Driving around Western Iowa there are far more McCain yard signs then Obama. Of course that is to be expected. Palin was in Sioux City last Saturday and played to a huge crowd. Bush visited Sioux City a day before the 2004 election to rev up the base.
At the Palin rally they had sign up sheets to volunteer the thing that worries me is that they were having trouble finding people to poll watch and make calls.

“a whole new way to do democracy.”

Yes, that sounds just like recent statements about "5 more days until we fundmentally change America" or something similar to that. All I remember is that I shouted at the radio, "America doesn't need to be fundamentally changed! Especially not by you!"

People will come out to vote. The CW is that Obama is going to win. But they're ignoring the fact he comes on strong and tends to finish well below expectations.

The One is supposedly up 11 points in Iowa.

The One said under him taxes would be lower than under Ronald Reagan. The One should not be able ever say Ronald Reagan.

Western Iowa is solidly R. And it’s hard to get them motivated.

I watched the Obama Show in Des Moines. I noticed several Iowa State sweatshirts in the background behind him. That tells me it was the Iowa State College Democrats, most likely bussed in from Ames.

From the NYT this AM, the candidates travel schedule:

What does one interpret from where the candidates are going over the next few days:
Obamnation
De Moines, IA
Henderson, NV
Highland, IN
Pueblo, CO

Biden
Ohio
Ohio
Indiana
Ohio
Ohio

McCain
Ohio
Ohio
Ohio
Ohio

Sarah
PA
PA
NC on Sat? (thought I heard this)

Where is Obamanation going? Has he given up on PA and Ohio or is it that he thinks they are locked up? Maybe he does not play well in the heartland?

That IA is now in play is HUGE. They are sending Sarah where she can help, this is GREAT news.

Opinions?

Iowa is the state that gave The One his first big victory in the primaries. If The One wins it’s Iowa’s fault!

Lunchtime anecdote:

I stepped out for a snack, driving past the house of a local (organized labor) congenital Democrat. Behold, the morning has brought an Osama/BinBiden sign to his yard. I had entertained thoughts that being an American had triumphed over his political blockheadedness, but no...

So it seems that the professional socialists are still dumping money in Iowa for yard signs and lots of radio/TV ads.

(The latter, BTW, are having a reverse effect with a few people I talk to; they are basically sick of seeing Barack Obama every time they turn on the tube. In fact, they have simply stopped having the tube on as much because of the 12th Imam, which is a win-win any way it is calculated.)

Looks like Ohio is in trouble with as much time as McCain is spending there. I heard Mccain say he was worried about Ohio the most because of voter fraud.

I've been wondering about that. I live in IL. so we don't see a lot of ads. If "the one" was on all the time I would get pretty tired of it.

Ruh Roh, Iowans finally figure out that ethanol profits don't mean squat if taxes become confiscatory and farms are forced out of business!

...Kulaks of Iowa arise! Fight for freedom or face the Obama GULAG!

(For those who don't know what a Kulak is... I suggest you do some Googling before next Tuesday - or, pack your long underwear!)

Well, I know about 50 people who are voting for McCain here in San Francisco. Then again, I go to church!

I heard this on Rush, too, but I can't find the Monday visit verified anywhere in the Iowa media.

The Des Moines Register's account of Nobama's appearance there this morning, indicated it was his last Iowa visit before the election. So I'm scratching my head.

Do you know where he will be on Monday?

I heard him say Monday.

I wonder if it was an error?

I wonder if Rush confused Sarah’s appearance on Monday?

I just checked the Des Moines Register’s website. They don’t have anything up about a Monday Obama visit. They are totally in the tank for him, and I’d have to think it would be on their website if he is coming back.

I get the feeling that after this is over one or more additional so-called “blue states” will be really close and everyone will be banging their heads saying Why didn’t we see this?... if only we had spent some time and money there.”

Probably Wisconsin. Perhaps also Minnesota.
