Someone close I know served as an FCO on a DDG in the gulf and Indian Ocean. They will like this video.
You made me cry. I remember the Carter years. When someone asked you where you were from and you kind of looked down at the ground and mumbled, “usa”.
But I also remember Ronald Reagan, and no matter what when someone asks me where I am from, my reply will proudly be “The United States of America”.
She didn’t fall, WE did. In the 60’s and 70’s when these hippie goofballs were protesting and living free, we were busy living the American Dream, working, raising our families and they were pesky things like flies that buzzed around us occasionally and we paid them little mind.
They got quiet and we didn’t notice, and they went to school and we didn’t notice, they became community organizers and we didn’t notice, they moved into politics and we didn’t notice. They took over the media, they took over our courts, they took over our schools, they built churches in the name of hate, and now here we are, while you were fighting ‘over there’, we were complacent ‘over here’.
My country stands as proud as she ever did. It is I who carries the blame and the shame.
All I can do now is pray God will give us another chance.
