Gun groups differ on Obama support

According to statistics from National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, gun sales are up eight to 10 percent in the first nine months of 2008.

NICS data shows that nearly 11.2 million people underwent background checks in 2007, up from 10 million in 2006.

Background checks this year through Sept. 2008 – at nearly 8.5 million – are up from 7.8 million during the same period in 2007. This year’s sales, according to Ted Novin, director of public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, do not factor in hunting season. He believes the sales increase, coupled with a 10 percent increase in excise tax revenue coming from gun sales, is politically driven, especially with the volatile economy.

“I think you can attribute that to fears over an Obama-[Joe] Biden administration,” Novin said.

I have more guns than I have time to shoot, but never seem to have enough and I’m not a collector, my guns are shooters, not safe queens. I’ll be buying 2 more this weekend.

Gun groups that support Obama = phony propaganda groups whose membership includes virtually no gun owners. As usual everything the Rats do is fraud.

Pure Propaganda... A story about the American Hunters and Shooters Assoc (aka Cap Guns and Water Pistols Assoc)- a leftist group formed to give cover to liberals on the 2nd ammendment.

I bought four more guns this year. Bought thousands of rounds of ammo, too. Bad times ahead. More time to stockpile more ammo if McCain wins.

Bought a Glock and a 30-06 this year and the Messiah is the direct reason. Anyone believing in the 2nd amendment and supporting Obama is either a dupe or a liar. There’s no third possibility. The gun-snatching thugs record is not debatable.

I had all my ammo (about 1500 rds.) out today taking inventory when my wife walked in on me. She looked and said “are you crazy”. I agreed with her so I immediately got online and ordered another 600.

I'm Sorry, I should have put this in Bold

Background checks this year through Sept. 2008 – at nearly 8.5 million – are up from 7.8 million during the same period in 2007"

I read that to mean that over 15 Million more guns are in the hands of US Citizens than where in their hands prior to 2007. Do you agree?

The headline says "Groups," but the only group mentioned in the article is the American Shooters and Hunters Assocation. A quick visit to the ASHA website (an organization I'd never heard of before just now) shows only one obvious member, Ray Schoenke, who was quoted in the article. There may be other members, but the website doesn't mention numbers, or anyone else by name other than Schoenke. He's the only person who blogs there. For all I know, it could be a one man operation.

I must admit that my suspicions went up as soon as I saw he/they describe himself/themselves as "mainstream" in the "About Us" section. That's of course a typical codeword liberals use when they don't want to call themselves liberal. And this bit from one of Schoenke's blogs on the front page got my attention:

I'm back home for a day before I head back out on the road. Wanted to get up a post about my trip to Minnesota. I was heading there to speak to hunters about Obama, mainly because Todd Palin was going to be there doing the same thing for his side.

And all this time I thought gun rights groups were about gun rights, rather than about my side or "his side."

I should have said that it was the only pro Obama group mentioned in the article, as the NRA was also mentioned.

“The American Hunters and Shooters Association”

Nothing more than a cheap propoganda front group for the Brady people and the leftists. Note how the author lends lefitimacy to this group of two at best? The author is a propogandist in the pocket of the same crowd.

I agree with your assessment. I’ve never owned a gun but am really thinking about it and know I have to act quickly if I’m going to do it. I did join the NRA as a first step!

I seriously doubt ANY true (legal) gun owners could support Zero. That doesn’t take into account his criminal type supporters who’ve gotten their weapons via “other” means, of course.

I like that, but my eyes are not up to looking at the sights anymore, so I bought one of these!

Gun groups differ on Obama support

Sigh. Once again the media proves their bias, stupidity or both.

The NRA opposes Obama because he wants to restrict the 2nd amendment.

The AHSA supports him for the exact same reason.

Blasphemy! There seems to be a chunk of magazine missing under your barrel there.

Hurry up and grab an extension before Senator Government outlaws pumps with more than 2 rounds (semis are already de facto illegal now in his own Crook County).
