If we can got a chance, I’m thinking PA is part of the answer.

I, too, want to believe, but ... pre-dinner depression.

Winning PA makes a huge difference in the math...

That means Obama would need to flip enough red states to get 39 electoral votes. If Mac also takes OH, MO, and Florida off the table, then that puts Obama in a very difficult position where he would have to sweep the battlegrounds that are left.

Buried in a fascinating long blog post which has been posted here on FR a few times tonight is a telling nugget I had never heard before.

The unions in PA are setting up fake poll calls and calling members houses, if they don’t answer OBAMA they are sending a union guy out to the house.

Scary stuff if true.

Great post.

I caught a lot of flack for trying to stop Freepers from running with the Zogby 48-47 McCain on Friday.

A 5th grader could work the attached %s and see it was nonsense.

Zogby is way out of line every where I've looked at his internals. I have no time for him, he's bogus.

The Pumas want Obama to feel overconfidant, so that he will feel the pain of defeat more sharply.

“The unions in PA are setting up fake poll calls and calling members houses . . .”

I read that too, but I took it that this is SOP in PA, not just for this election. In other words, the union members have been long conditioned to give the “right” answer to any pollster.

I was pretty discouraged last Thursday and felt that it all boiled down to a win in PA, was it possible....

Digging into the internals showed some trending that no one else was noticing, except the McCain campaign. So I decided to start charting the 5 polls there, and badda bing....

PA is a must win, no doubt.

Even if it's not true--if that story is making the rounds, I could see it making an interesting difference in poll results.

True. I also thought it was interesting that he thought Rendell had made a point to be less aggressive with the troops he controls. I forget the exact phrasing...Rendell maybe stealth for McCain (or ultimately for Hillary).

I'm in PA but had not heard that.

Sunday I noticed Obama campaign literature hanging on my neighbor's door. It looked like a slick package in a plastic bag meant just for the purpose.

They're dems, he's union, but they are pro life Catholics as well. When I went out I saw another package on a door a block away. He's a teacher so I assume union as well.

Those were the only 2 doors with the literature.

If the unions are sending people out it may be no more than this literature campaign.

The interesting poin is that for it to be 52% O to 46% M with Dems 51% and Repubs 41% that means McCain is picking up 5 out of 6 independents. That has to imply higher Dem crossovers than Repub crossovers.

Yes, there are so many gems in that “toast” article that it is easy to overlook a few of them. I also just got through reading an interesting analysis on the PUMA phenomenon:

http://www.marstonchronicles.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=95&Itemid=119

From the guy’s biography I would say that he knows a thing or two as well, but his is much more in the numbers crunching vane.

Maybe this all is why the McCain team is smiling and in good cheer.

well all the polls said Obama would beat Hillary in Penn by double digits. We all remember how that worked out. Also this is before the coal story had time to sink in.
